Digital Immigrant
My definition of a digital immigrant are people aged 30 to 60 who were not born with computers and smart phones.but adapted technology out of necessity
"Some say that there are three types of digital immigrants:
1. Avoiders: People who don’t adapt to new technology at all. They might still get the newspaper delivered, refuse to text, or be unwilling to learn how to use a new smartphone.
2. Reluctant Adopters: They know about the new forms of technology and are slowly figuring it out. They’re not hostile, just wary and a bit overwhelmed. This is probably me. (I was one of my last friends to get a cell phone, for instance. I hate texting, but I’ll do it.)
3. Eager Adopters: They are enthusiastic to try and adopt all forms of new technology. They’re the first to try out every new tech trend and device."
"igital Immigrants are approximately ages 30-60 years and are the early and late adopters of the Web2.0 technologies. Most Immigrants were born “before the existence of digital technology and adopted it to some extent later in their life.” They were brought up with a variety of computer technologies, used them in different contexts and have varied levels of experience with social media. "ultimodality simply means the ability to create and read a variety of modes of communicatio"
"Two or more modes of operation. The term is used to refer to myriad functions and conditions in which two or more different methods, processes or forms of delivery are used. On the Web, it refers to asking for something one way and receiving the answer another; for example requesting information via speech and receiving the answer on screen.
"
Multimodality is based on the use of sensory modalities by which humans receive information. These modalities could be tactile, visual, auditory, etc. It also requests the use of at least two response modalities to present information (e.g. verbal, manual activity).
