You can create a word list based on which words students need to practice. For example, you can generate a list of cvc words, cvcc, etc. They can include sight words by level, and you can decide on word length and syllable number for longer words. A very useful tool.
Nice list of dinosaur prefixes/root words. Students can make up their own by combining word parts.
I found this great, brief article published by the Florida Reading Association with live links to the Web sites the children can use for practicing the different phonological categories discussed. The sites are excellent, and the explanations are succinct and clear. There is also a nifty phonological awareness continuum chart.
Check out this wonderful site I discovered. It links you to over 100 Web sites for students to use (there are some for teachers as well) and it is grouped by reading topics such as beginning sounds, rhyming words, syllables, letter recognition, letter sounds, short vowels, long vowels, r controlled vowels, blends, sight words, vocabulary--antonyms and synonyms, prefixes, fluency, etc. You may find a few that will be new for your students. There is a brief explanation of each.
I just discovered this wonderful site that you may already know about. You enter the spelling words students need to practice. (There doesn't seem to be a limit on the amount of words, although I have not checked out the maximum amount.) Students then click on test me, teach me, or play a game. It can be a great addition to Literacy Centers for all students or individualized for students who may need more practice. In the play a game section, there are ten different games to play with the words entered. It generates crossword puzzles, sentences, scrambled words, etc.--all with your words. Excellent practice for everyone. Play around with it.
Phonemic awareness information for parents--many good Web sites for word work
This is an excellent game for beginning readers. There are also many good links to other excellent sites for beginning readers.
