• The movement to give patients better access to and control of their health information is giving HIM a new customer: the patient. That requires a shift in both operations and culture.
• Laws like HIPAA and ARRA and private initiatives like AHIMA’s Health Information Bill of Rights and the national push toward personal health records will change the way HIM professionals interact with patients

• De Landelijke Huisartsenvereniging (LHV), de Vereniging Huisartsenposten Nederland (VHN), het Nederlands Huisartsen Genootschap (NHG), de apothekersorganisatie KNMP en de Nederlandse Vereniging van Ziekenhuisapothekers (NVZA) hebben een vertrouwelijk voorstel gepresenteerd om toch een digitaal patiëntendossier te kunnen invoeren dat de privacy van de patiënt volledig garandeert. Dit voorstel is in handen van het ANP.
• Een Personal Medical Card is enige methode dat recht doet aan geldende privacy wetgeving. Met een PMC is datamining niet mogelijk en daarmee de budgettaire controle.

• Ongekend dat een Nictiz na zo'n - terecht - totaal mislukte coup op onze privacy een herkansing krijgt - wat een softe slapte. Is deze sector - naast arrogant - ook oostindisch doof?  Bouw gewoon een privaat systeem waar iedereen aan mee kan doen die wil, en waar de patient zelf de baas is over zijn gegevens en niet een hele sector, maar laat de rest van (gezond) NL met rust svp!

• Betere partners in het zorgproces

   

  ‘Spijtig genoeg spreek ik geen Nederlands. Dus ik heb de demonstraties van MyHealth Online – de PHR-applicatie van mijn gastheer PinkRoccade – niet helemaal kunnen volgen. Maar toch denk ik dat MyHealth Online een flinke stap is op weg naar de ontwikkeling van een reeks online tools, die het hele zorgproces toegankelijker en efficiënter zullen maken. Tools die uitgaan van de zorgbehoefte van de cliënt en die de cliënt efficiënter toegang verschaffen tot adequate zorg.

  PinkRoccade Healthcare beschikt over een eigen e-Health concept voor zowel Ziekenhuizen, GGZ- als care-organisaties: MyHealth Online. MyHealth Online is het eerste open e-Health platform van Nederland, dat zorgprocessen en zorgapplicaties via internet ontsluit en op een veilige manier gecontroleerd toegankelijk maakt voor cliënten, zorgprofessionals en partnerorganisaties. MyHealth Online verbindt cliënten met zorgverleners en zorgorganisaties. Het platform biedt daarnaast een toenemend aantal aanvullende webdiensten aan die patiënten meer invloed geven op hun eigen zorgproces hetgeen tegelijk zorgt voor efficiëntere en effectievere zorgprocessen. Dat gebeurt via een centrale ‘ingang’ voor patiënten (ook wel portaalwebsite) zoals u die wellicht al kent van warenhuizen, providers en energiebedrijven. Waren patiënten al bekend met ‘Mijn UPC’, ‘Mijn Nuon’ of ‘Mijn Wehkamp’, binnenkort is het tijd voor “Mijn zorgorganisatie”.

• When doctors at 12 Memphis, Tennessee, emergency departments (EDs) voluntarily accessed patient medical records through a health information exchange (HIE), they reduced the number of hospital admissions and diagnostic tests and reduced costs by almost $2 million during a 13-month period

• Dr. Frisse and colleagues analyzed all ED encounters for which physicians accessed HIE data from August 2007 to August 2008 for a Memphis medical population of about 1.2 million people. They ended up with a total of 15,798 encounters (12,120 unique patients) and matched those records with the same number of encounters (13,832 unique patients) for which clinicians sought no HIE access.

• De pilot zal moeten aantonen of er een valide business model en business case is op te zetten voor een gestandaardiseerde opslag via een onafhankelijke dienstverlenende instantie (de Dutch Health Hub, DHH) die verantwoordelijk is voor de centrale service, coördinatie en het opslagbeheer. Daarbij verstrekt de DHH kennis en advies en regelt DHH de gecontroleerde toegankelijkheid bij vraagstukken voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek.

  De focus zal in eerste instantie liggen op de combinatie van opslag voor de specifieke casus en het uitvoeren van wetenschappelijk onderzoek waarbij gebruik gemaakt kan worden van een geanonimiseerde dataset. Vanuit verschillende marktpartijen is inmiddels aangeboden mee te denken over de benodigde technologie. In de komende periode zal ook onderzocht worden in hoeverre er een aansluiting mogelijk is bij verschillende reeds lopende aan medisch beeldmateriaal gerelateerde initiatieven binnen met name de academische medische centra en de universiteiten.

  Het belang van hoogwaardig medisch beeldmateriaal wordt steeds groter en de vraag ernaar neemt ook sterk toe. Het totale medisch beeldarchief dat de laatste jaren is opgebouwd voor academische opleidings- en wetenschappelijke onderzoeksdoeleinden is inmiddels omvangrijk en wordt in snel tempo groter. Dit archief is van grote waarde voor kennisdistributie en kennistoename maar op dit moment ontbreekt de mogelijkheid om hier gedeeld gebruik van te maken. Daarnaast zijn er specifieke vakgebieden waar al direct het nut van een centraal archief en datasets evident zijn. Dit is een belangrijk aanknopingspunt om het pilot verder uit te bouwen.
