"JCAS was designed to both develop the activist’s consciousness of animal liberation history, practice, theory and politics, while also encouraging Critical Animal Studies scholarship, one of the most progressive and dynamic modes of theory in the academy today. To this end, JCAS, a free online journal, accepts manuscripts and other materials that promote the fundamental notions of critical animal studies, and which reject and subvert assumptions linked to animal studies and research. We are also interested in research using an intersectional analysis of social justice issues related to other marginalized and oppressed groups in relation to race-ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, disability, geography, age, and spirituality. To ensure the highest standards of academic integrity, our submissions are peer-reviewed by members of the JCAS Review Board."

"Imaginations is an international journal hosted at the University of Alberta in Canada that publishes peer-reviewed articles in original languages as well as translations and commissioned artwork. Imaginations acts as a nexus, or aggregation point, where excellent scholarship informed by different cultures, national histories and linguistic traditions can create a new vocabulary for addressing the notion of the image along with its many avatars, and where academic researchers can also come in contact with visual artists and practitioners reflecting on their approaches. The disciplinary and cultural contacts inspire new dialogues and parallelisms, or even differences and potential frictions, out of which shall necessarily emerge unforeseen insights into the role of the image and visual culture."

"meta-carto-semiotics is interested in theoretical studies on questions related to cartography in its broadest sense. What such "cartography in its broadest sense" shall comprise, is already a worthwhile topic within the scope of meta-carto-semiotics. However, we will try to introduce the future discussions in this e-journal more precisely, proposing the following preliminary and rough definition of cartography and cartographic theory. Cartography is about representation of spatial reality to humans. Consequently, cartographic theory focuses on the numerous relations between representation (e.g. map), user and reality. As semiotic theories offer, of course, different ways to structure the aforementioned relationship, semiotics forms part of the journal's name. Moreover, semiotics provides, on the one hand, a solid framework for other theories, which have been already applied on cartographic questions, like communication theories or information theories for example. On the other hand, both current carto-theoretic approaches can be structured on semiotic fundaments and future developments may be prepared."

    • PhaenEx is an electronic journal affiliated with the Canadian based international Society for Existential and Phenomenological Theory and Culture / Théorie et culture existentialistes et phénoménologiques (EPTC/TCEP).

Our intent is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for original research in theory or culture from existential or phenomenological perspectives, broadly construed. This includes but is not restricted to philosophical and critical inquiries related to art, literature, science, technology, popular culture, religion, gender and sexuality, applied moral issues and social relations, as well as the history of continental philosophy itself. Submissions in both French and English are encouraged and all submissions are subject to peer review.

PhaenEx is a bi-annual publication: there is a Spring/Summer Open Issue, and a Fall/Winter Special Topics Issue. For each Open Issue the Editorial Executive welcomes submissions from authors both in and outside EPTC/TCEP. Typically, the Special Topics Issue is derived from a recent EPTC/TCEP panel session. Submissions are not limited to panel participants.

PhaenEx is indexed regularly in the Philosopher's Index and is registered with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

"THE OLD POTTER‟S ALMANACK is the joint letter of the Ceramic Petrology Group and the Prehistoric Ceramics Research Group."

    • This issue tackles the intersections between architectural practices and different forms of visual narrative. Within this overall theme, our NARRATIVE issue moves on both sides of the line that separates these two disciplines, presenting three different perspectives, organized in three consecutive parts. The first section of the issue deals with the presence of graphic narrative in disciplinary architecture, both past and present while the second one discusses the crossing of borders portrayed by comics artists who also make forays into the built world. Finally, the third one moves towards both sides of the spectrum, briefly covering the tangents with (implied) written narratives and emerging animation practices in architecture.

    • The Journal of Literature and Science is a peer-reviewed academic journal, published twice annually in Summer and Winter.
    • The JLS is dedicated to the publication of academic essays on the subject of literature and science, broadly defined. Essays on the major forms of literary and artistic endeavour are welcome (the novel, short fiction, poetry, drama, periodical literature, visual art, sculpture, radio, film and television). The journal encourages submissions from all periods of literary and artistic history since the Scientific Revolution; from the Renaissance to the present day. The journal also encourages a broad definition of ‘science’: encapsulating both the history and philosophy of science and those sciences regarded as either mainstream or marginal within their own, or our, historical moment. However, the journal does not generally publish work on the social sciences. Within these confines, essays submitted to the journal may focus on the literary and scientific productions of any nation or group.
