Over two thousand Michigan students were able to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form accurately and on time, thanks to the efforts of 500 volunteers participating in Michigan College Goal Sunday. This free program was organized by EduGuide (EduGuide.org) a nonprofit agency located in Lansing.

"Our collaboration with the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association, the Department of Treasury, and others has delivered great results," said Bryan Taylor, president of EduGuide. "Together we've not only helped more people at College Goal Sunday, but our outreach campaign has increased the number of people submitting the FAFSA statewide."

College Goal Sunday On Feb. 13
Local students can get free advice on applying for financial aid for college and have the chance to win prizes Sunday, Feb. 13.
"College Goal Sunday," a joint initiative of the Michigan Department of Education, the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide, happens from 2 to 4 p.m. at Kellogg Community College, 450 North Ave., in the Ohm Information and Technology Center.
Participants should bring completed 2010 federal tax returns and either their W-2s or 1099 forms.-

According to a news release from the state, prizes will be given away, including a $1,000 scholarship, three $500 scholarships, an iPod Nano and a Dell laptop.
