SST is reported as degrees above the climatological monthly maximum temperature. The plots are useful as indicators of coral bleaching hot spots, which occur at 1 degree above monthly climatological maximum temperature. Also, there is a new link to coral bleaching indices that indicate the strength and duration of hotspots.
