Ask A Biologist began in 1997 in the School of Life Sciences. The site continues to be developed, and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. It is designed as an educational resource for students preK-12, and their teachers and parents. Ask a Biologist is visited by over 2,000 people every day. This is a SafeSurf site.

An image that changes daily is featured at this site, Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is originated, written, coordinated, and edited since 1995 by Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell. The APOD archive contains the largest collection of annotated astronomical images on the internet. In real life, Bob and Jerry are two professional astronomers who spend most of their time researching the universe. Bob is a professor at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan, USA, while Jerry is a scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland USA.

AstroWeb is a collection of pointers to astronomically relevant Internet resources, maintained by the AstroWeb Consortium, the site offers a searchable database of sites about astronomy--use the subject classifications for browsing. The Consortium includes the the Strasbourg astronomical Data Center, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Australian National University, the Space Telescope Science Institute, the Institute of Astronomy - Cambridge, the X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission (XMM-Newton) at the European Space Agency.

A guide to astronomy resources at the Exploratorium. The Exploratorium is a collage of hundreds of science, art, and human perception exhibits and an advocate in the movement to promote museums as informal education centers.

The NASA/Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA presents the events surrounding the first NASA Moon mission in 25 years. Prospector's one-year-long (1998) primary mission with an optional extended mission of a further 6 months at an even lower altitude enabled large amounts of data to collect over time. The Stardust mission was launched into space in early February 1999. Its destination - Comet Wild 2 (pronounced Vilt 2 after its Swiss named founder) its mission, to capture cometary materials before returning to earth in 2006. Stardust will encounter Comet Wild 2 in 2004, while nearly 390 million kilometers (242 million miles) from earth. En route to the comet, the spacecraft will collect interstellar dust particles. These samples will provide a window into the distant past, helping scientists around the world to unravel mysteries surrounding the birth and evolution of our Solar System.
