Grades 3-5.
Students research global warming effects on 6 biomes of the earth in teams and then create PowerPoints based on research findings. Really cool!
Grades K-5.
Students debate whether an Ecuadorian rainforest community should allow ecotourism. What are the pros? Cons? Students take on different roles such as "expert," "botanist," "zooligist," and "ethnographer."
Grades 3-5.
In this rainforest webquest, students pose as villagers attempting to identify an previously unknown animal species encountered in their rainforest. They must work together to classify this animal by comparing it to animals with similar characteristcs.
Grades K-2.
Suitable for any science unit on a region containing reptiles. Students research snakes and display their research in some interesting ways.
Grade 2: Insects.
Students work to complete the following tasks:
"Imagine yourself as an insect. Your habitat is about to be destroyed by humans. If you could communicate with humans,
1. what would you write in a letter and
2. how would you design a poster
to convince an exterminator that you should live?"
K-2.
Animal Camouflage.
Students create a class book based on their research on animal camouflage.
Grade 3.
Students investigate life cycle characteristics of various animals and compare them.
Primary.
This wequest helps students learn basic web skills such as searching, bookmarking, and using toolbar features.
Upper Elementary.
This simple yet useful webquest challenges students to create an ad campaign promoting rainforest conservation. Students must defend their initiative by explaining why rainforests are important to the the rest of the planet.
