An analysis of research literature from 1996 – July 2008 revealed that blended learning is more effective than face-to-face instruction. The authors of the study speculate that the advantages of blended learning may be related to materials and the opportunity for additional time and for collaboration.
Blended learning is addressed throughout the report, but you may interested in the findings presented in the “Blended Learning” section on p. 9. The report refers to an article written by Liz Pape that notes that “blended learning extends teaching and learning beyond the classroom walls, developing critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration and global awareness.
