Do you know that the 21st century pedagogy is completely different from the20th century one ? Have you ever asked yourself about the basic features of this pedagoy and to what extent your teaching reflects them ? I have covered thoughout a detailed post illustrated with interesting videos, diagrams and pictures the main features of the 21st century pedagogy and how teachers should be transforming their old traditional teaching habits to the new digitally based ones .

Reasons to Flip: st who missed our classes & struggled to stay caught up. Now feel flipping classroom has transformed teaching practice. No longer stand in front of st & talk at them for 30 -60 min @ time. Radical change allowed T to have different role w/ students. One of the greatest benefits of flipping is overall interaction increases: T to st & st to st. Role of the T has changed from presenter of content to learning coach, spend time talking to kids. Beauty of mini-lectures is we are delivering "just in time" instruction when the students are ready for learning. As roam around class, notice st developing own collaborative grps. St help each others learn instead of relying on T as sole disseminator of knowledge. Key is for stto id learning as their goal, instead of striving for the completion of assignments. We purposely tried to make our classes places where students carry out meaningful activities instead of completing busy work. St Goal: Be the best learner possible, & truly understand content in classes. When st grasp concept that T on their side, respond by doing their best. Remember sitting in parent conf for yrs & parents would often ask us how their son or daughter behaved in class. Question is a non-issue now. Since st are coming with the primary focus on learning, the real question is now: Is your st learning or not? If they are not learning, what can we do to help them learn? This is a much more profound question & when we can discuss this w/ parents, can really move st into a place which will help them become better learners.

Students' questions give insight into their prior knowledge, level of interest and direction to continue learning. This Habitude mini-lesson addresses the importance of question-asking and empowers students to be responsible for their own learning; giving them a framework to use as they continue to refine this critical skill in their daily work and lives.
