She says the typical high school senior gets less than seven hours of sleep on school nights. But they need a great deal more.
Dr. Dan siegal referred to this in his presentations . One of their focuses is mindful education using contemplation as a major focus.
Lots of talk about stress and tests as well as some differentiation on reactions by different ethnicities of students. I think this is probably worth a library read as well. Thought I would save a review. don't know if it is relevant.
This book was for sale at the conference. Not sure how good it is , but would take it out of library. science of reading.
interesting concept. I think you can go to Scientific American mMind and actually order the original article.
Good stuff here and many ascd links with couple of chapters free to view. This book in particular is her newest, but all she has to say is good.
This book also came up in a conversation at LB Chicago as a recommendation from an educator at an independent school in michigan.
intersting blog entry by a noted educator about applying the concept of flow to the classroom
surprisingly couldn't find page for author of book directly. His co-author presented and this book is considered a great discovery in psychology about happiness. I notice he also has a ted talk online about this concept.
I enjoyed this presentation and found her ideas thought provoking. note she has written two book and also speaks around the world
lots of annotations within the pages as well.
Heard people talking about this gal whom i did no see. Most importantly the fact that this book has a 2011 copyright and includes more of the digital brain stuff we are finding out.
