Great article on using flash-card based PI to teach Philosophy in a Critical Thinking course, Ethics course, and Formal Logic course. Includes sample questions and student reported feedback on engagement as well as impact on learning outcomes:
"Students [also] showed a statistically significant gain in critical thinking test scores of 17.23% ± 8.5%. For comparison, students enrolled in the same course in semester 2 2004, taught without PI, showed an average improvement of just 7.85% ± 5.5%. PI compares favourably with the most successful method we have investigated - intensive computer-assisted argument mapping exercises (Semester 1, 2004)." -
