Welcome to the Genealogical Society of Allegany County, Maryland web site. It is the purpose of this web site to aid those in researching ancestors who lived in Allegany County, Maryland.
The Howard County Genealogical Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded to aid and encourage the study of family history, to preserve and collect genealogical records, and to assist local libraries in developing their genealogical collections.
The Carroll County Genealogical Society, Inc. was founded in 1981 to stimulate interest in genealogy and educate the membership and general public in proper and ethical methods of genealogical research and gathering, recording and dissemination of genealogical and historical information.
The Historical and Genealogical Research Center, at the Kuethe Library, has been in operation since 1992. We have many books on the history of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, as well as books on individual areas of the county such as Mayo, Glen Burnie, Severn, and Pasadena. We also have cemetery records of small cemeteries, both church cemeteries and private family cemeteries, dating back to before the Revolutionary War. Our holdings include published volumes of Genealogical Family Histories from hand typed booklets to huge, bound, three or four volume works with indexes. These histories contain information about early Anne Arundel county families and family members that have moved to other areas of the state, country and world. We have filing cabinets of articles found in area newspapers and magazines as well and maps and manuscripts
FRECOGS has been in existence since the mid-1970s and incorporated as a non-profit Maryland corporation in December 1999.
The Charles County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization located in Charles County Maryland. Our purpose is to promote the collection, preservation and dissemination of genealogical information. We also hope to educate and assist those interested in researching their ancestry. Membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy.
The Harford County Genealogical Society is a non-profit group whose purpose is to facilitate the preservation and dissemination of information on the history and genealogy of families of Harford County, Maryland, and its immediate vicinity. The Society also provides a forum for generic genealogical research and technologies.
The Baltimore County Genealogical Society (BCGS) was founded in 1977 to help educate members in tracing their family ancestry, to collect and publish material related to genealogy, and to encourage the open exchange of genealogical ideas and experiences. We collect and maintain substantial materials for both Baltimore County and City.

The Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) strives to highlight the role of history as a vital part of the cultural and social fabric of Montgomery County. Montgomery County has experienced significant growth in the past sixty five years and the Montgomery County Historical Society has grown as well. Since its founding in 1944, MCHS has moved from an all volunteer organization to one boasting over 1,400 members, a professional staff and hundreds of supportive and dedicated volunteers.
