This is a collection of my favourite and most popular posts from the last five years. It should give you a great overview about both the strategy and the process of creating an online community from scratch.
When I was first starting out with WordPress, I was rather confused by the fact that there seemed to be two versions. I had previously built websites from scratch with Notepad and a FTP client, so the world of content management systems was new to me. And before I had even started – before I even had a particularly good understanding of what WordPress actually was – I had to make a choice
P2 is a theme for WordPress that transforms a mild-mannered blog into a super-blog with features like inline comments on the homepage, a posting form right on the homepage, inline editing of posts and comments, real-time updates so new posts and comments come in without reloading, and much more. Here’s a quick video tour of the best features:
This plugin enables page or post authors to scrape content from mediawiki pages and appending it to their pages. It works by scraping content from mediawiki pages by going to a special mediawiki page url.
CreativeLife is a design Wordpress Theme perfect for Portfolio, Blogging, Agency, Freelancer and Business. Block-style, Modular, full of cool features (discover all them in our demo!). Easy to customize (you can change background patterns, background pictures, key colors, custom sidebars, custom icons, choose between 2-3-4-5 columns portfolios, a great and powerful slider, a bunch of custom widgets, etc).
When you embed a video from a place like YouTube, this plugin goes out and finds the thumbnail for it, downloads it to your site, and then automatically makes the thumbnail the featured image for your post. This allows that thumbnail to be used to represent that post wherever your theme uses thumbnails in that way.
And it does all this automatically.
Here’s a list of video-sharing sites it current supports:
YouTube
Vimeo
Justin.tv
Blip.tv
Dailymotion
Metacafe
It should also be noted that if you embed multiple videos in the same post, the plugin will get the thumbnail for the first video.
