1. Establish a goal and criteria for learners to self assess.
2. Tangible and transparent results related to the goal. (video self teaching at least once a month to catch things that are missed in the moment.)
3.Actionable feedback is concrete and specific. Tell what what was observed, not a judgement of what it meant. Offer neutral, goal-oriented facts.
4. User-Friendly feedback is like Goldilocks--just right. Not too much, at their level, just enough for them to know what effects the actions had; good and bad. Tell one important thing that would immediately yield noticeable improvement.
5. Timely feedback comes at the appropriate time. Sometimes feedback during a performance is not ideal. Get feedback to people in a timely fashion so the feedback can be used while the actions are still fresh in their minds.
6. Ongoing means that there is an opportunity to use the feedback to better the performance.
7. Consistent feedback that means the same each time is important. Standards of quality need to be stable.
