• UN Report Says 'Gender Is Not Static, It Is Changeable'

• A counter-terrorism report that has been presented to the United Nations General Assembly would bend the U.N.’s definition of gender.
• The report, written by UN Special Rapporteur Martin Scheinin, is titled “Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms While Countering Terrorism.”
• While the main focus of the document is gender-based issues that arise from counter-terrorism efforts, the report’s definition of gender that has generated opposition.
• “While many of the measures discussed in the report relate to the human rights of women,” Scheinin wrote in his report summary, “gender is not synonymous with women, and, instead, encompasses the social constructions that underlie how women’s and men’s roles, functions and responsibilities, including in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity, are understood.”
• Scheinin further wrote that, “gender is not static; it is changeable over time and across contexts.
• “Understanding gender as a social and shifting construct rather than as a biological and fixed category is important because it helps to identify the complex and inter-related gender-based human rights violations caused by counterterrorism measures;
• to understand the underlying causes of these violations; and to design strategies for countering terrorism that are truly non-discriminatory and inclusive of all actors,” he added.
• Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), slammed the report in an interview with CNSNews.com.
• “If the General Assembly accepts this document, then his definition of gender will enter in, once more, into U.N. debate,” said Ruse, “and his definition of gender, this radical definition of gender, will get an added impetus because it’s been in a report by a special rapporteur that’s been accepted by the General Assembly.” 
• Ruse said that “the issue of what gender is has actually been deliberated and decided by the General Assembly many times. Even though the radicals have tried to get this statement agreed to, that gender is a social construct, the General Assembly has decided not once, not twice, but three times that gender is based in nature.”
• Julie Gunlock, a senior fellow at the Independent women, also blasted the document.
• “It’s too bad that the United Nations found it necessary to veer from this report’s intended subject – women,” she told CNSNews.com.
• “By including such broad topics as the social construct of men and women’s roles, sexual orientation and gender identity, they dilute the important purpose of this report and have managed to turn this into something that looks more like some politically correct corporate human resources manual,” Gunlock continued.
• Ruse agreed that Scheinin also went well beyond his assignment in even addressing the subject.
• “It’s supposed to be on the effect of women’s human rights in counterterrorism situations,” he said, “well, what he submitted was a highly ideological, radical document that, among other things, says that gender is a social construct.”
• As for the report’s chances of actually be accepted by the General Assembly, Ruse was skeptical.
• “There is a growing opposition among the member states of the General Assembly to this report,” he said, “this is evolving news, we ultimately don’t know what’s going to happen, but I fully expect that there’s going to be a massive negative reaction to (Scheinin’s) report.”
• Ruse said it would take “several weeks” before the report is voted on by the Third Committee of the General Assembly.  
• “It’s kind of frustrating,” Gunlock concluded, “that the U.N. sort of wastes its time on coming up with politically correct definitions for gender, or for women, that encompass all these people besides women.”

• The Twentieth Century was a time of unprecedented progress, untold misery and cruelty but more than anything else: hope.
• Hope was there as our grandparents rebuilt their lives and societies in the aftermath of the last World War. Hope inspired the youth of the 60s to change the world around them and drove them as they marched for equal rights and peace.
• In today's post post-modern society hope is not all that evident.
• There are only so many times Western civilization can re-invent itself and re-invigorate the blood in its veins.
• Only the very shallow or very stupid could possibly be inspired by much about present society and that is not a good thing.
• European civilization, at least, seems to have run out of ideas and steam.
• America is ill. Much of its populace is worn-out. They no longer have faith in the old 'American dream'.
• The Obama campaign momentarily enlivened us with the prospect of 'real change', but predictably and sadly little seems to have changed at all and that might have been the last drawcard we had. 
• It seems we have also finally run out of vaguely believable ‘enemies’ to create so as to mask our society's divisions and alienation with a false sense of unity hiding under empty war slogans.
• Unprecedented prosperity and ease of living has not created the happiness we believed it would. A gaping emptiness resides in the soul of modern man.
• Old-time religions try to fill the void and be ‘relevant’ but the reality is that they are hopelessly out of date.
• Pop-culture is also running out of new ideas to inspire the young, its only solution is to try to appeal to a younger and younger audience each passing year.
• It’s over, finished, gone, done.
• The Aztec Empire once shone briefly as a marvel of human civilization. The great city of Tenochtitlan was described by the Europeans who first saw it as something beyond a dream. Aqueducts, canals, grand public buildings, towers, temples and palaces all carved of stone. A giant aviary made of pure gold.
• Their empire was in serious decline and to appease the gods human sacrifice was stepped up to proportions that gripped the populace with constant fear and misery. Aztec society was cannibalising itself.
• However, by 1519 all was not well with the Aztecs.
• Omens in the sky and elsewhere that fulfilled ancient prophecies about the destruction of their empire were observed.
• And then through the mist large ships were seen moving towards the coast, bringing a new culture and new religion. Unfortunately for the Aztecs this was to spell more death and tragedy. Within a few years most had died of smallpox.
• However, on the ruins of Aztec civilization a new nation, Mexico, was created. A vibrant mix of the old culture and the new one.
• Many now fear a dying Western Civilization has begun cannibalising its citizens too in the sad hope of injecting some life into its decaying self.
• UFO activity has never been greater. UFO sightings are happening daily in every corner of the globe.
• Evidence of alien visitation and a government cover-up is believed by many UFO enthusiasts to be irrefutable.
• Many UFO researchers are certain that soon large ships will be seen through the mist by us too.
• This time they will appear in the skies, not the seas, to save us from our miserable stagnation. Many fear that like the Spaniards they will bring indescribable misery and eventual annihilation.
• Other scholars disagree. As far as they are concerned ETs should just fire up their UFO engines now and head to planet earth for immediate open contact.
• Humanity has hit a wall.
• There is little point letting us fester for much longer, drowning in our own waste. Let our minds be set free in the vast expanses of the galaxy, they argue.
• Will ETs also bring a new religion from the stars?
• It’s time for ‘longer boats’ to be ‘coming to win us’ in the words of Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens.
• Racists and xenophobes can stop worrying about Mexicans crossing the border. Soon we will all be Mexicans.

• The president of the Catholic League is questioning why President Obama would select Kevin Jennings, known as a "Christian basher" in addition to his homosexual activism, to instruct public school children on "moral matters."
• WND has reported multiple times on the background of Jennings, who founded the "Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network," which promotes homosexuality in public schools across the nation
• The most recent report concerned Jennings' support for the Harvard exhibition: "Act Up New York: Activism, Art, and the AIDS Crisis, 1987-1993," which credits him and others, including Fred P. Hockberg and Tom Healy, Open Gate and the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, for "gifts and grants" used for the project.
• The display included dozens of "politically charged posters, stickers, and other visual media that emerged during a pivotal moment of AIDS activism in New York City," according to a website promoting the effort.
• Among the organizations displaying their work was "Fierce Pussy," which featured a poster of a toddler labeled "Dyke."
• "Pairing text and image with penetrating anger and searing wit, ACT UP's art collectives targeted specific individuals and institutions at the local and national level, advocated for safer sex and gay and lesbian rights, and galvanized broadband support for the AIDS activism movement," the promotion stated.
• The group also was being featured as four "central members" participate in a three-day activism and print media workshop, the announcement said.
• "The exhibit includes horrible anti-Catholic bigotry, child pornography, and various descriptions and depictions of sexual perversion.
• It also includes posters accusing various public officials of murder during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s and 1990s and a call to terrorize offices of the National Institute of Health," wrote Mass Resistance, which had members at the opening of the exhibit.
• Now in a statement, Catholic League president Bill Donohue is asking about the links between Obama and Jennings, who was named the director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the Department of Education under Obama.
• "On September 23, I wrote a news release on the curious moral credentials of Kevin Jennings to be President Obama's Safe Schools Czar: a former drug user and irresponsible teen counselor, he is also a Christian basher," Donohue said.
• "What was not known at the time is that he is also a proud member of ACT UP, the homosexual urban terrorist group that broke into St. Patrick's Cathedral (in New York City) in 1989 and disrupted Mass; the Eucharist was desecrated and obscene depictions of Cardinal O'Connor were posted," he continued.
• "Now a group called MassResistance, and the website WorldNetDaily, have exposed Jennings as a member of ACT UP.
• And he is no mere member: Jennings is listed as a donor to a sick display, 'ACT UP New York: Activism, Art, and the AIDS Crisis, 1987-1993,' currently featured at the Harvard Art Museum.
• Harvard, of course, would never feature a display of Klan paraphernalia and say it was being done for the purpose of 'dialogue,'" he said.
• "The real story here is not the corruption of Harvard – that's old hat – the real story is the president of the United States choosing a morally challenged anti-Catholic homosexual to join his team.
• That Jennings belongs to, and sponsors, an urban terrorist organization, should alone disqualify him from public service at a municipal level. And remember, Obama did not choose him to monitor global cooling – he was chosen to instruct youth on moral matters," Donohue said.
• "Catholics deserve to know why Obama likes Jennings."
• WND reported just days ago when Mass Resistance, a pro-family organization in Massachusetts that has battled the homosexual agenda, reported Jennings was a part of Act Up, known for its aggressive badgering of opponents of the homosexual lifestyle.
• A YouTube video revealed Jeff Davis, Jennings' "partner," addressing a banquet and saying of Jennings, "He was a member of Act Up. Act Up! So it's like – you know – here's a big gay activist. BIG gay activist!."
• The video was removed shortly after the WND report appeared, but Mass Resistance continues making it available on the Internet.
• According to Mass Resistance, the Harvard display is"extremely disturbing. This exhibit is a 'celebration' of anger, terrorism, religious bigotry, and sexual deviance."
• "For any public official to be involved with this and funding it (much less a person in charge of directing the nation's children's 'safety') is beyond offensive. It's every parent's nightmare," the report said.
• The website posted or linked several pages of reports on the event but warned that they are "offensive and pornographic."
• The group also reported that Jennings' book, "One Teacher in Ten," about homosexual teachers, was published by Alyson Books, which describes itself as "the world's oldest and largest publisher of LGBT literature."

• Among the titles featured on the website are "Women of the Bite: Lesbian Vampire Erotica," "New Essential Guide to Gay and Lesbian Weddings," "Sordid Truths," and "Body Count."  

  The website confirmed one of its projects was "One Teacher in Ten."  
• According to the pro-family organization Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, Jennings already was "under fire for praising his hero, early homosexual activist Harry Hay, despite Hay's longtime, dedicated support of NAMBLA – the North American Man/Boy Love Association."
• According to "The Marketing of Evil," by WND's David Kupelian, Act Up was extreme from its outset:
• The defiant, storm-trooper tactics of in-your-face groups like ACT-UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) may or may not have been successful in pressuring the federal government to increase its commitment to combating AIDS. But such tactics definitely were successful in giving activist homosexuals a very bad name.
• One infamous incident was the assault on New York's famed St. Patrick's Cathedral on December 10, 1989. While Cardinal John O'Connor presided over the 10:15 Sunday morning Mass, a multitude of "pro-choice" and "gay rights" activists protested angrily outside. Some, wearing gold-colored robes similar to clerical vestments, hoisted a large portrait of a pornographically altered frontal nude portrait of Jesus.
• "You bigot, O'Connor, you're killing us!" screamed one protester, while signs called the archbishop "Murderer!"
• Then it got really ugly. Scores of protesters entered the church, resulting in what many in the packed house of parishioners described as a "nightmare."
• "The radical homosexuals turned a celebration of the Holy Eucharist into a screaming babble of sacrilege by standing in the pews, shouting and waving their fists, tossing condoms into the air," recounted the New York Post. One of the invaders grabbed a consecrated wafer and threw it to the ground.
• Outside, demonstrators, many of them members of ACT-UP, carried placards that summed up their sentiments toward the Catholic Church: "Keep your church out of my crotch." "Keep your rosaries off my ovaries." "Eternal life to Cardinal John O'Connor NOW!" "Curb your dogma."
• Clearly, the young movement was flirting with oblivion if it persisted in such ugly, indefensible tactics. It needed a new, more civilized direction if it ever hoped to convince Americans that homosexuality was a perfectly normal alternative lifestyle.

• According to Mass Resistance research by Amy Contrada, the Act Up organization also:
   

  • Staged a "die in" at Massachusetts General Hospital to protest the unavailability of PCP drug AP.
    
     
  • Protested Astra Pharmaceutical Products’'refusal to release the experimental antiviral drug Foscarnet.
    
     
  • Disrupted opening night at the San Francisco Opera.
    
     
  • Protested design of clinical trials planned by Harvard School of Medicine.
    
     
  • Jammed phone lines of health insurance database company protesting their use of "sexual deviation" classification.
    
     
  • Halted Boston's trolley service and traffic in front of Harvard School of Public Health to press the federal government into approving two new AIDS drugs.
• Act Up also covered Sen. Jesse Helms' house with a 'giant condom" and threw ashes of dead AIDS patients on the White House law, the report said.
• Members of Congress have written to Obama demanding he dismiss Jennings following WND disclosures about his past, including an incident in which he counseled a 15-year-old student to keep quiet about being seduced by an older man.
• Jennings says now he should have handled the situation with the sexually active student "differently," but the statement from Jennings failed to express "regret."
• Jennings also wrote the foreword for a book called "Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue about Sexualities and Schooling."
• Another incident was the "fistgate" scandal in which his organization led discussions at a seminar in which "young teens were guided on how to perform dangerous homosexual perversions including 'fisting."

• Yet another issue arose over Jennings' address in a New York City church on March 20, 2000. He said:   

  "Twenty percent of people are hard-core fair-minded [pro-homosexual] people. Twenty percent are hard-core [anti-homosexual] bigots. We need to ignore the hard-core bigots, get more of the hard-core fair-minded people to speak up, and we'll pull that 60 percent [of people in the middle] over to our side. That's really what I think our strategy has to be. We have to quit being afraid of the religious right. We also have to quit – I'm trying to find a way to say this. I'm trying not to say, '[F—] 'em!' which is what I want to say, because I don't care what they think! [audience laughter] Drop dead!"

• Congress passes 'Pedophile Protection Act'

• A "hate crimes" plan that opponents have warned will be used to crack down on Christian speech, even the reading of the Bible, is poised to be signed by President Obama, a longtime proponent of the plan to give homosexuals and those with other alternative lifestyles special protections not provided other classes of citizens.
• The Senate approved the "hate crimes" plan 68-29 today after Democrats strategically attached it to a "must-pass" $680 billion defense appropriations plan.
• Most Republicans, although normally strong supporters of the U.S. military, opposed the plan.
• "The inclusion of the controversial language of the hate crimes legislation, which is unrelated to our national defense, is deeply troubling," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., told Fox News after the vote.
• The plan also hands out federal money to states and local governments in pursuit of "preventing" hate crimes.
• Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said the move is a step toward thought crimes and suggested the bill will be a warning against those to speak out about their religious faith.
• Obama was strongly supported during his 2008 presidential campaign by homosexual advocates, and has expressed a willingness to act on the proposal, calling it an "important civil rights issue."
• The plan – which creates federal protections and privileges for homosexuals and other alternative lifestyles but denies those protections to other groups of citizens – earlier was approved in the U.S. House.

• When the Senate earlier approved a key move, Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, said, "In … months President Obama and the Democratic-led Congress have forced on the American people the most radical and immoral agenda.  

  "The administration and the Democratic-led Congress are out of touch with the mainstream. They represent the most fringe extreme elements of America. They will not be able to continue their efforts to undermine moral values, socialize the economy and trash American pride and heritage.  
• "The people will not remain silent forever," he said.
• The House vote prompted the American Family Association to alert its constituents and create a procedure for them to send e-mails to Washington about the plan.
• "In its never-ending quest to shred America's Judeo-Christian value system, the left is planning to hurriedly push through a 'thought crimes' bill," the alert said. "So-called 'hate crimes' laws are really laws that criminalize thought, because they punish an individual not for what he did but for what he thought. Politically incorrect thoughts about homosexual behavior will result in enhanced criminal sanctions under this law."
• The AFA said, "Everywhere hate crimes laws have gone into effect, they have been quickly used to intimidate, silence and punish people of faith who express deeply held religious objections to the normalization of homosexuality.
• "Such laws not only punish officially disapproved speech and thought, they create two tiers of victims. Under hate crimes laws, some victims get more protections than others, which violates the fundamental American principle of equality under the law," the alert said. "In fact, such laws actively discriminate against heterosexual Christians who are victims of crime, since they will get less legal protection than homosexual victims."
• The American Family Association said since "sexual orientation" nowhere is defined in the law, "this law will give pedophiles, voyeurs, and exhibitionists special protections, which is why the bill has correctly been called 'The Pedophile Protection Act.'"
• Also offering an online "contact Washington" process is the organization Pray in Jesus Name, founded by former U.S. Navy Chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt, who was involuntarily removed from the U.S. military after he prayed "in Jesus name."
• His organization submitted via fax almost 400,000 petitions to Washington opposing the "hate crimes" law.
• Also, a separate larger Fed Ex campaign to warn U.S. Senate members of the dangers of the "hate crimes" plan dispatched more than 705,000 letters to senators.
• The letter-writing effort was organized by WND columnist Janet Porter, who also heads the Faith2Action Christian ministry. It allowed citizens to send individually addressed letters to all 100 senators over their own "signature" for only $10.95.
• Klingenschmitt said there is a remote chance Obama may not like the proposal, since it is linked to funding for an engine for the F-35 fighter jet, which he has opposed.
• "If President Obama vetoes the F-35 second engine, as he promised when speaking in Phoenix last spring, he will ironically kill the homosexual agenda and their evil 'Pedophile Protection Act,'" he wrote.
• Attempts by Republicans to add amendments stating "pedophilia is not protected as a sexual orientation" were  blocked by House Democrats.
• In fact, Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., said all alternative sexual lifestyles should be protected.
• "This bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice and to guarantee that all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability or all of these 'philias' and fetishes and 'isms' that were put forward need not live in fear because of who they are. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this rule," he said.
• Further, the proposal has a broad definition of "intimidation," so a Christian pastor's sermon could be considered 'hate speech" if heard by an individual who then acts aggressively against someone based on "sexual orientation."
• The pastor, Klingenschmitt said, could be prosecuted for "conspiracy to commit a hate crime" or "inciting violence against gays" for quoting the Bible.
• As it went through the House, the version was H.R. 1913, or the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009. The Senate then worked on its own version, and it ultimately was added as an amendment to a defense spending plan.
• As WND reported, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder admitted a homosexual activist who is attacked following a Christian minister's sermon about homosexuality would be protected by the proposed federal law, but a minister attacked by a homosexual wouldn't be
• The revelations came from Holder's June testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which was taking comments on the proposal. The measure also was the subject of discussion on talk radio host Rush Limbaugh's July 3 show.

• "This is the question," Limbaugh said. "(Sen.) Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) presents a hypothetical where a minister gives a sermon, quotes the Bible about homosexuality and is thereafter attacked … by a gay activist because of what the minister said about his religious beliefs and what Scripture says about homosexuality. Is the minister protected?"  

  No, said Holder.  
• "Well, the statute would not – would not necessarily cover that," Holder stated. "We're talking about crimes that have a historic basis. Groups who have been targeted for violence as a result of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, that is what this statute tends – is designed to cover. We don't have the indication that the attack was motivated by a person's desire to strike at somebody who was in one of these protected groups. That would not be covered by the statute."
• Continued Limbaugh, "In other words: ministers and whites are not covered by the hate crime statute because we're talking about crimes that have a historic basis, groups who have been targeted for violence as a result of their skin color, sexual orientation. • While he said he doesn't believe there will be "immediate" prosecutions of pastors and churches for teaching the biblical injunction that homosexual behavior is sin, "I think the effect on speech and religious speech is nonetheless real."

• According to the Catholic News Agency, Father Manuel Morujao of the Portuguese Bishops Conference said the comments from Saramago were "superficial."

• "There's no need for criticism to be offensive. It should expressed with respect and humility. What we have here is clearly exaggeration, which we didn't like to see in him," Morujao told the agency.

• Saramago, who now lives in the Canary Islands, is guilty of a "publicity stunt," said a spokesman for Portugal's Catholic Church.
• "No one will ever transcend the inspired moral ideals of the Bible, especially Christ's Sermon on the Mount. Because Saramago doesn't believe in God, he has no reliable, ethical standards, only his limited, fallible opinions. History proves the world is a much better place because of the moral influence of the Scriptures," said Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission.

• The mother of a six-year-old boy who was subjected to what a judge described  as “truly appalling” abuse from a man she had regarded as a close friend  said yesterday that her child had been “shaped and moulded” for life by the  experience.
• Welcoming the life sentences passed on James Rennie and Neil Strachan, the  woman said that she had moved on from feelings of anger.
• “My focus is about  my son, about how to support him and loving him for who he is. And who he is  now has been shaped and moulded by what’s gone on.”
• Rennie 38, the former chief executive of a gay youth organisation, was  responsible for “a colossal breach of trust”, Lord Bannatyne said at the  High Court in Edinburgh.

  James Rennie is led into Edinburgh High Court, where he was sentenced to life in jail
• He had abused the boy — identified as Child F —  almost from birth to the age of four years.
• He distributed images and films  of his attacks to a gang of seven other men.
• Strachan, 41, the only one of the gang with previous convictions for offences  against children, was shown in background reports to display evidence of a  psychopathic personality.
• One image that showed him abusing a baby left in  his care displayed all his basest instincts, the judge said.
• “By its very  nature what is shown in that photograph is utterly appalling and would shock  to the core any right-minded person who has had to see it.”
• Strachan was ordered to spend a minimum of 16 years in prison, while Rennie  was sentenced to a minimum of 13 years.
• Nearly 125,000 indecent images were seized during an 18-month police  investigation, codenamed Operation Algebra.
• Six men were jailed in June for  their involvement in the gang. All were respected members of the community,  as was Rennie, and they included a civil servant, a bank clerk and a church  bell-ringer.
• The nine-week trial in the spring invoked conspiracy laws for the first time  in a sexual offences case in Scotland, a precedent that prosecutors hope  will have a profound effect on curtailing the making and distribution of  images of child abuse by paedophiles.

• As a direct result of Operation Algebra more than 60 individuals have been  arrested in Britain, and according to police hundreds of offenders are  believed to have been identified in Britain and around the world.
• Significant operations are continuing in central Scotland, Sussex, the  Netherlands and the United States.
• Strachan, convicted of eight charges in total, was also found guilty of  repeatedly touching a six-year-old boy indecently.
• The jury found Rennie  guilty of 14 charges, including one of procuring his best friend’s child for  other men, an offer that Strachan took up.
• The men — along with Ross Webber, 27, from North Berwick, Craig Boath, 24 from  Dundee and John Milligan, 40, from Glasgow — were also found guilty of  conspiring to gain access to a child or children to commit abuse.
• After sentencing the mother of an 18-month-old boy abused by Strachan said  that she would never be able to forgive him. “The anguish I feel towards Mr  Strachan is indescribable,” she said.
• “I feel that no matter what punishment is given to Mr Strachan, it will never  be able to compensate for the hurt, devastation and great deal of stress  brought to me and my family.”
• Webber, Boath, and Milligan, along with Neil Campbell, 46, and John Murphy,  44, both from Glasgow, were sentenced to a total of 43 years in jail in June  for their involvement in the paedophile ring.

• The political parties in  the United States are simply different wings of the same private club-with  no real differences between any of them.
• The professionals covet the real  power behind the offices they seek, and almost none of them care about  what the public might think about what they do for themselves as officeholders  in the country.
• These people are like Vampires that survive on the blood-money  they are able to steal from the public in a hundred different ways each  and every day.
• The "issues" that supposedly matter to the rest  of us are just so much useless paper to be disposed of in order to increase  their "take" from everything we do to try and survive.

• "This is like a lot of schools, where most of the  kids are good kids - and then, we know which ones are going wrong,"  said Charles Johnson, one of Richmond High's security specialists.
• "You wouldn't believe the stuff we have to put up  with those few who go wrong - guns, dope busts, fighting," Johnson  said. "We know that courtyard, and we've been waiting for something  to happen there.

• Johnson, teachers and students at least partially blame  the attack on the lack of lighting, sturdy fencing or security cameras  on the courtyard, which abuts a rough neighborhood on the northern end  of the campus on 23rd Street.
• Signs for the Norteño and Crips gangs  are scrawled in huge letters on a wall near the driveway leading into the  courtyard.
• But as much as anything, the attack stems from the way  the roughest young men treat women, Johnson and the others say. And this  is a problem that extends far beyond the East Bay campus' borders.
• "This attack was about street culture, and the need  to change that mind-set," said Jay Leonhardy, a nationally recognized  community organizer who heads Richmond's Youth Works, which steers at-risk  kids into work and education programs.
• "It's not something you change  overnight, and it is not unique to Richmond, Oakland, Portland or Los Angeles.  It's everywhere"
• This pathetic excuse for human behavior is becoming more  and more frequent and will soon become one of the new standards of behavior  in the FAILED WORLD ORDER.

• NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City health officials scrambled to explain themselves on Thursday in the wake of media reports about bankers who got scarce H1N1 flu vaccines through their employers.
• Members of Congress fired off letters demanding immediate explanations and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reminded state and city health officers of the need to make sure the most vulnerable people get shots first.
• "I am concerned that the distribution of the vaccine is resulting in favored treatment for the privileged," New Jersey Democratic Representative Frank Pallone said.
• A shortage of H1N1 vaccines has frayed nerves, and public health departments across the country say they will not be able to meet the bulk of the demand until December or January.
• The CDC estimates swine flu has infected more than five million people and it is documented as having killed 1,000.
• The federal government, which is buying the vaccines and distributing them for free to 62 state and city health departments, says 35.6 million doses have been made and packaged since production began.
• Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, a Democrat, released a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius saying he was "stunned" at the reports.
• "I implore you to use whatever authorities you have to ensure that H1N1 vaccines already distributed but not yet used are promptly redirected to hospitals, schools, community health clinics, school-based health clinics, and pediatricians so that they can be made immediately available to at-risk members of the public as identified by the Department," Dodd wrote.

• CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden sent out a reminder to state and city health departments that distribute vaccine.

      

  "I ask each of you to review your plans immediately and work to ensure that the maximum number of doses is delivered to those at greatest risk as rapidly as possible," he wrote.
• "When H1N1 vaccine first became available in the fall, we directed all available doses to pediatricians, OB-GYNs, community health centers, public and private hospitals," New York City health department spokeswoman Jessica Scaperotti said in a telephone interview.
• She said the city had given 800,000 doses to about 1,100 providers, with Lenox Hill Hospital, for example, getting 1,200 doses
• and banking firm Goldman Sachs getting 200 of the 5,300 doses it asked for, Scaperotti said.
• She said 16 of the city's 25 biggest employers had vaccine, including Columbia University, Citi Group and others,
• as well as the Federal Reserve Bank, which is not among the top 25 employers.

• “I just wrote my first reference for a gun permit,” said a friend, who told me of swearing to the good character of a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. banker who applied to the local police for a permit to buy a pistol.

• The banker had told this friend of mine that senior Goldman people have loaded up on firearms and are now equipped to defend themselves if there is a populist uprising against the bank.
• I called Goldman Sachs spokesman Lucas van Praag to ask whether it’s true that Goldman partners feel they need handguns to protect themselves from the angry proletariat.
• He didn’t call me back.
• The New York Police Department has told me that “as a preliminary matter” it believes some of the bankers I inquired about do have pistol permits. The NYPD also said it will be a while before it can name names.
• While we wait, Goldman has wrapped itself in the flag of Warren Buffett, with whom it will jointly donate $500 million, part of an effort to burnish its image -- and gain new Goldman clients.
• Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Blankfein also reversed himself after having previously called Goldman’s greed “God’s work” and apologized earlier this month for having participated in things that were “clearly wrong.”
• Has it really come to this? Imagine what emotions must be billowing through the halls of Goldman Sachs to provoke the firm into an apology.
• Talk that Goldman bankers might have armed themselves in self-defense would sound ludicrous, were it not so apt a metaphor for the way that the most successful people on Wall Street have become a target for public rage.
• Pistol Ready
• Common sense tells you a handgun is probably not even all that useful. Suppose an intruder sneaks past the doorman or jumps the security fence at night. By the time you pull the pistol out of your wife’s jewelry safe, find the ammunition, and load your weapon, Fifi the Pomeranian has already been taken hostage and the gun won’t do you any good.
• As for carrying a loaded pistol when you venture outside, dream on. Concealed gun permits are almost impossible for ordinary citizens to obtain in New York or nearby states.
• In other words, a little humility and contrition are probably the better route.
• Until a couple of weeks ago, that was obvious to everyone but Goldman, a firm famous for both prescience and arrogance.
• In a display of both, Blankfein began to raise his personal- security threat level early in the financial crisis.
• He keeps a summer home near the Hamptons, where unrestricted public access would put him at risk if the angry mobs rose up and marched to the East End of Long Island.
• To the Barricades
• He tried to buy a house elsewhere without attracting attention as the financial crisis unfolded in 2007, a move that was foiled by the New York Post.
• Then, Blankfein got permission from the local authorities to install a security gate at his house two months before Bear Stearns Cos. collapsed.
• Blankfein somehow anticipated the persecution complex his fellow bankers would soon suffer.
• Surely, though, this man who can afford to surround himself with a private army of security guards isn’t sleeping with the key to a gun safe under his pillow. The thought is just too bizarre to be true.
• So maybe other senior people at Goldman Sachs have gone out and bought guns, and they know something. But what?
• Henry Paulson, U.S. Treasury secretary during the bailout and a former Goldman Sachs CEO, let it slip during testimony to Congress last summer when he explained why it was so critical to bail out Goldman Sachs, and -- oh yes -- the other banks.
• People “were unhappy with the big discrepancies in wealth, but they at least believed in the system and in some form of market-driven capitalism. But if we had a complete meltdown, it could lead to people questioning the basis of the system.”
• Torn Curtain
• There you have it. The bailout was meant to keep the curtain drawn on the way the rich make money, not from the free market, but from the lack of one.
• Goldman Sachs blew its cover when the firm’s revenue from trading reached a record $27 billion in the first nine months of this year, and a public that was writhing in financial agony caught on that the profits earned on taxpayer capital were going to pay employee bonuses.
• This slip-up let the other bailed-out banks happily hand off public blame to Goldman, which is unpopular among its peers because it always seems to win at everyone’s expense.
• Plenty of Wall Streeters worry about the big discrepancies in wealth, and think the rise of a financial industry-led plutocracy is unjust.
• That doesn’t mean any of them plan to move into a double-wide mobile home as a show of solidarity with the little people, though.
• Cool Hand Lloyd
• No, talk of Goldman and guns plays right into the way Wall- Streeters like to think of themselves.
• Even those who were bailed out believe they are tough, macho Clint Eastwoods of the financial frontier, protecting the fistful of dollars in one hand with the Glock in the other.
• The last thing they want is to be so reasonably paid that the peasants have no interest in lynching them.
• And if the proles really do appear brandishing pitchforks at the doors of Park Avenue and the gates of Round Hill Road, you can be sure that the Goldman guys and their families will be holed up in their safe rooms with their firearms.
• If nothing else, that pistol permit might go part way toward explaining why they won’t be standing outside with the rest of the crowd, broke and humiliated, saying, “Damn, I was on the wrong side of a trade with Goldman again.”

• WARNING: This editorial includes discussion of topics that are sexually graphic. Under usual circumstances, we would never entertain these subjects or the rancid language involved. In this case, however, a very unusual exception must be made because the issues are central to the background of a senior presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Education who is in a position to influence how and what our children are taught in our nation's schools. Thus far, out of fear or squeamishness, there has been public hesitance to examine closely the beliefs of this individual because many are afraid even to touch the risky content. Our scruples cannot be used against us when traditional moral precepts need to be defended. Simply, the deep level of depravity involved in this subject cannot be portrayed without providing a couple of examples to illustrate the inappropriate content. Please do not read any further if you will be offended by sexually graphic language.
• The Obama administration is stonewalling serious inquiries about sexual filth propagated by a senior presidential appointee who is responsible for promoting and implementing federal education policy.
• Democrats clearly are terrified of ruffling the feathers of their activist homosexual supporters, who are an influential part of the Democratic party's base.
• This scandal, however, is not merely about homosexual behavior; it is about promoting sex between children and adults -
• and it's time for President Obama to make clear that abetting such illegal perversion has no place in his administration.
• It is curious why White House officials and Education Secretary Arne Duncan believe it's worth it politically to continue taking arrows for defending Kevin Jennings, who is Mr. Obama's controversial "safe schools czar."
• The evidence suggesting he is unfit to serve as a senior presidential appointee is startling and plentiful.
• It was revealed this week that Mr. Jennings was involved in promoting a reading list for children 13 years old or older that made the most explicit sex between children and adults seem normal and acceptable.
• This brought up anew Mr. Jennings' past controversies, such as his seeming encouragement of sex between one of his high school students and a much older man as well as his praise for Harry Hay, a notorious supporter of the North American Man Boy Love Association.
• But there is more.
• There are shocking new revelations this week of tape recordings from a youth conference involving 14-year-old students.
• The conference, billed as a forum to encourage tolerance of homosexuality, was sponsored by Mr. Jennings' organization and was held at Tufts University in March 2000.
• Mr. Jennings was executive director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) from its founding in 1995 until August 2008.
• The conference sessions appear to have had less to do with promoting tolerance and more to do with teaching children how to engage in sex.
• Describing the subject matter as smut would be putting it lightly.
• Andrew Breitbart's Biggovernment.com provides tapes of some of the sessions.
• The conference discussions were very graphic and cannot be relayed in full detail in a family newspaper.
• A few examples are sufficient to describe the depravity of the subject matter.
• During one session about oral sex, a presenter asked the 14-year-old students: "Spit or swallow? Is it rude?"
• In another session, the 14-year-olds are taught about a gross practice called "fisting," in which "the man leading the discussion position[ed] his hand and show[ed] 14-year-olds how to insert their entire hand into the rectum of their sex partner."
• Unfortunately, it is part of a consistent pattern by some homosexual activists to promote underage homosexuality while pretending that their mission is simply to promote tolerance for so-called alternative lifestyles.
• Teaching children sexual techniques is simply not appropriate.

• It is outrageous that someone involved in this scandal is being paid by the taxpayers to serve in a high-powered position at the Education Department, of all places.
• At some point, Mr. Duncan, Mr. Jennings, Obama administration spokesmen and the president himself are going to have to start answering questions about all this. Refusing to do so won't make the issue go away.

• Population control called key to deal

• COPENHAGEN: Population and climate change are intertwined but the population issue has remained a blind spot when countries discuss ways to mitigate climate change and slow down global warming, according to Zhao Baige, vice-minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) .
• "Dealing with climate change is not simply an issue of CO2 emission reduction but a comprehensive challenge involving political, economic, social, cultural and ecological issues,
• and the population concern fits right into the picture," said Zhao, who is a member of the Chinese government delegation.
• Many studies link population growth with emissions and the effect of climate change.
• "Calculations of the contribution of population growth to emissions growth globally produce a consistent finding that most of past population growth has been responsible for between 40 per cent and 60 percent of emissions growth," so stated by the 2009 State of World Population, released earlier by the UN Population Fund.
• Although China's family planning policy has received criticism over the past three decades, Zhao said that China's population program has made a great historic contribution to the well-being of society.
• As a result of the family planning policy, China has seen 400 million fewer births, which has resulted in 18 million fewer tons of CO2 emissions a year, Zhao said.
• The UN report projected that if the global population would remain 8 billion by the year 2050 instead of a little more than 9 billion according to medium-growth scenario, "it might result in 1 billion to 2 billion fewer tons of carbon emissions".
• Meanwhile, she said studies have also shown that family planning programs are more efficient in helping cut emissions, citing research by Thomas Wire of London School of Economics that states:
• "Each $7 spent on basic family planning would reduce CO2 emissions by more than one ton" whereas it would cost $13 for reduced deforestation, $24 to use wind technology, $51 for solar power, $93 for introducing hybrid cars and $131 electric vehicles.
• She admitted that China's population program is not without consequences, as the country is entering the aging society fast and facing the problem of gender imbalance.
• "I'm not saying that what we have done is 100 percent right, but I'm sure we are going in the right direction and now 1.3 billion people have benefited," she said.
• She said some 85 percent of the Chinese women in reproductive age use contraceptives, the highest rate in the world.
• This has been achieved largely through education and improvement of people's lives, she said.
• This holistic approach that integrates policy on population and development, a strategy promoting sustainable development of population, resources and environment should serve as a model for integrating population programs into the framework of climate change adaptation, she said.

• The "inconvenient truth" overhanging the UN's Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world.
• A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.
• The world's other species, vegetation, resources, oceans, arable land, water supplies and atmosphere are being destroyed and pushed out of existence as a result of humanity's soaring reproduction rate.
• Ironically, China, despite its dirty coal plants, is the world's leader in terms of fashioning policy to combat environmental degradation, thanks to its one-child-only edict.
• The intelligence behind this is the following:
• -If only one child per female was born as of now, the world's population would drop from its current 6.5 billion to 5.5 billion by 2050, according to a study done for scientific academy Vienna Institute of Demography.
• -By 2075, there would be 3.43 billion humans on the planet. This would have immediate positive effects on the world's forests, other species, the oceans, atmospheric quality and living standards.
• -Doing nothing, by contrast, will result in an unsustainable population of nine billion by 2050.
• Medical and other scientific advances have benefited by delivering lower infant mortality rates as well as longevity. Both are welcome,
• Humans are the only rational animals but have yet to prove it.
• but humankind has not yet recalibrated its behavior to account for the fact that the world can only accommodate so many people, especially if billions get indoor plumbing and cars.
• The fix is simple. It's dramatic. And yet the world's leaders don't even have this on their agenda in Copenhagen.
• Instead there will be photo ops, posturing, optics, blah-blah-blah about climate science and climate fraud, announcements of giant wind farms, then cap-and-trade subsidies.
• Unfortunately, there are powerful opponents.
• None will work unless a China one-child policy is imposed.

• And most political leaders in emerging economies perpetuate a disastrous Catch-22: Many children (i. e. sons) stave off hardship in the absence of a social safety net or economic development, which, in turn, prevents protections or development.
• Its middle class grows, all its citizens have housing, health care, education and food, and the one out of five human beings who live there are not overpopulating the planet.
• China has proven that birth restriction is smart policy.
• For those who balk at the notion that governments should control family sizes, just wait until the growing human population turns twice as much pastureland into desert as is now the case, or when the Amazon is gone, the elephants disappear for good and wars erupt over water, scarce resources and spatial needs.

• An international human rights organization today announced it will pursue a civil lawsuit on behalf of parents who want to control their children's education and withhold them from explicit sex education and play-acting classes required by the German government.
• Joel Thornton of the International Human Rights Group told WND the government in Salzkotten, Germany, is sending the fathers of the children to jail for terms of one week because they have refused to turn their children over to school officials for mandated sex classes.
• According to a report from Richard Guenther, European director for the IHRG, eight families of Christians have decided to withhold their children from required sex education classes in Salzkotten.
• Sex education classes in Germany are explicit,
• and the issue is one of the major reasons why families – and not just Christian families – choose to homeschool their children even though the government has maintained its illegality since the days of Hitler.
• The students who are being held out of sex education classes also are not being allowed by their parents to participate in a play-acting program called "My Body Belongs to Me," which essentially teaches children how to engage in sex, the report said.
• Guenther reported that one father already has served his week in jail and is scheduled to be released this weekend, while the fathers of seven more families still are facing a similar fate.
• Thornton said the families are being targeted with a "Bussgeld," a fine described as "repentance money" designed to show contrition for wrong behavior.
• The government already has imposed fines on the families, which continue to accrue.
• The families so far have refused to pay because that would be admitting guilt.
• Thornton said the cases being brought against the families – whose names are being withheld for the protection of the children – reveal the dedication among German officials to punish parents who refuse to hand over their children to the state for education purposes.
• The government's determination is evident, Thornton said, whether parents are objecting to an explicit sex class or whether the family chooses to homeschool their children.
• "Unlike American officials, German officials do not recognize the right of parents to opt their children out of offensive classes such as sex education which overrides the parent's beliefs or desires for their own children," Thornton said.
• "One of the reasons for this is that German officials view the children as belonging to the state, particularly during the time they are in school," he said.
• So the IHRG has launched a new "radical approach" in Germany.
• "Early next year, January or February, we will be filing a civil lawsuit on behalf of a number of homeschool families to try and force the court to recognize the rights of parents to control the education of their children," Thornton said.
• "We will not continue to only react to these forceful actions by state officials against these families."

• Michael Farris, who heads the U.S.-based Parental Rights website, said it's not surprising that the German government is reacting the way it is.  

  "They basically believe that the government knows best in every sector of life," he said.  
• He said the actions also align with the general international sympathy for U.N. protocols such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child,
• which essentially gives children rights to make their own decisions on every facet of their lives.
• He cited a case a decade ago when the government of Wales allowed parents to opt children out of sex programs and it was found to have been in violation of the convention because it did not first consult the children about their desires.
• There's also no assurance that the U.S. is immune to such draconian measures, officials said.
• WND already has reported on a California case where the judge called parents "bigots" for opposing homosexual lessons in public schools.
• The parents were represented in California's Alameda Superior Court by Pacific Justice Institute. On Dec. 1, Judge Frank Roesch denied a motion to allow them to have their children excused from the lessons.
• According to the group, Roesch blasted the parents for seeking enforcement of a provision of the California Education Code that gives parents a right to opt their kids out of health education.
• Education Code Section 51240 allows a parent to have a student excused from instruction, "If any part of a school's instruction in health conflicts with the religious training and beliefs of a parent or guardian of a pupil."
• However, Pacific Justice Institute said Roesch repeatedly insinuated that the parents are bigots.
• In his opinion Roesch said the opt-out provision "is not reasonably construed to include instruction in family life education, but was intended to be more limited in scope."
• WND earlier reported when the district was accused of violating federal law for approving the mandatory homosexual curriculum for children as young as 5 – without allowing parents to opt out of the lessons.
• "We believe that this ruling against parents is inconsistent with the Education Code, and we are looking forward to continuing this battle until opt-out rights are restored on appeal, or the curriculum is changed," Pacific Justice Institute Chief Counsel Kevin Snider said in a statement.
• Germany has been notorious for its treatment of parents decide to homeschool their children.
• Just weeks ago, a mother and father in Archfeld were fined $181 for homeschooling their children by a judge who spared them the jail sentences demanded by the prosecutor, according to the Home School Legal Defense Association.
• The organization has been monitoring and working on the case of Juergen and Rosemarie Dudek. The HSLDA previously reported the prosecutor had suggested only jail was a deterrent to homeschooling families.

• But the ruling from the judge, identified only by his surname of Drier, said the parents were guilty under the criminal law in the German state of Hessen of homeschooling even though they were providing a good education for their children.  

  He fined them 120 euros, or $181.  
• "We recognize in our German basic law about philosophical and religious conviction and that parents have rights, but the basic law also includes that it is the state's role to educate all children," the judge ruled.
• Practical Homeschool Magazine has noted one of the first acts by Hitler when he moved into power was to create the governmental Ministry of Education and give it control of all schools and school-related issues.
• In 1937, the dictator said, "The youth of today is ever the people of tomorrow. For this reason we have set before ourselves the task of inoculating our youth with the spirit of this community of the people at a very early age, at an age when human beings are still unperverted and therefore unspoiled. This Reich stands, and it is building itself up for the future, upon its youth. And this new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing."
• Wolfgang Drautz, consul general for the Federal Republic of Germany, commented previously on the issue, contending the government "has a legitimate interest in countering the rise of parallel societies that are based on religion."
• Drautz said schools teach socialization, and as WND reported, that is important, as evident in the government's response when a German family in another case wrote objecting to police officers picking their child up at home and delivering him to a public school.
• "The minister of education does not share your attitudes toward so-called homeschooling," said a government letter in response. "You complain about the forced school escort of primary school children by the responsible local police officers. ...
• In order to avoid this in future, the education authority is in conversation with the affected family in order to look for possibilities to bring the religious convictions of the family into line with the unalterable school attendance requirement."
