Basically, you should *never* give out personal details when doing a task, even if they’re offering you big bucks, it’s just not worth it.

This scam occurs when you do the job(s) correctly, but the MTurk requester accuses you of making some sort of mistake, that way they get all the work that you’ve done, but they don’t have to pay you!
You can contact the MTurk requester to complain, but some of them don’t even bother answering, never mind pay you for your work. Not only do you lose money that you should be rightfully yours, but your Amazon MTurk Hit Rejection Rate can also be affected negatively, which influences what jobs you can do in the future!

Some of the Microworkers jobs on the Microworkers site pay better than on other sites. For instance, favoriting someone’s youtube video will often pay 30 or 40 cents on Microworkers, in my experience, whereas you may get as little as 2 cents on Amazon Mechanical Turk. Making money with Microworkers jobs is certainly easier in some areas (though not in others).

When you look at the list of Microworkers jobs available on the Microworkers site, they tell you what proportion of workers who’ve done a job previously have been successful.

Always check out the success rate of the workers who’ve completed the job previously, it will give you an indication of whether the job is easy to get right and also whether the requester is legit.

I find that some of the competition voting is quick and easy money in Microworkers. You can sign up and vote three times in ten minutes and earn a dollar. The same goes for the facebook liking and twitter following etc.

I normally just type "surveys" in the search box for hits and check the "for which you are qualified" box (my hit rejection rate fell below 95% again recently!).

The online surveys that you see on Amazon MTurk have pay rates that are completely variable and erratic in my experience. Sometimes you will get paid maybe $2 a time to do easy surveys that take only 5 minutes. Other times you will be given 25 cents for doing a very difficult online survey that takes you over half an hour to complete. There is no rhyme nor reason to it and it is not always possible to discover from the instructions how difficult, or how long the survey will take you before you start out.

The exact formula that myLot uses to calculate how much you earn is not made public, but it’s based on the amount of activities such as posting comments, uploading photos, and starting discussions that you do to make money. The more active that you are on the site, the more you'll make money.

In answer to the question: Can I make money with MyLot? my answer would be: yes, but not much. There are better ways of earning money online, in my experience

Inbox Dollars is a website-based rewards program where you earn money for doing simple tasks, like internet searches, completing paid surveys, looking at paid to read emails, playing games, shopping online and watching online videos. You are paid Inbox Dollars to download it and it helps you keep track of earning opportunities and your accumulated dollars. Plus even if you uninstall it at a later date, you still get to keep the dollar that they paid you

Swagbucks is a website-based rewards program that pays you virtual currency for doing basic tasks, such as checking in on their website, doing web searches, taking surveys, filling out profiles, watching videos and shopping online. Every time you fulfill one of these tasks, an amount of virtual money, known as “Swagbucks” or “SBs” is credited to your online account and that is how you earn money (the Swagbucks can be swapped for goods or money later).

The daily Groupon deals provide some great bargains and sometimes you win twice, because you buy a bargain through Swagbucks and then they award you lots of SBs on top of that, which is great when you’re making a purchase that you planned to make anyway.

Use the Swagbucks tool bar. You can get 1 Swagbuck just for logging into the toolbar each day. You can get another 1 Swagbuck for checking out the surveys page, or the offers page, or voting in the Daily Poll. You can get anywhere from 0-50 Swagbucks for a web search, depending on the Search Results. As you can see, it makes sense to install the toolbar.

HubPages is an online knowledge-sharing website, where members publish informative articles, known as “hubs”, and interact with other members, who are nicknamed, “hubbers”. As well offering membership of an online community and a source of knowledge and information, HubPages also promises, and in many cases delivers, much bigger earnings than the average online money-making site. Whereas most sites offer rewards in cents, Hubpages earnings are more often measured in dollars. Making money with Hubpages is not instant, however, and most of the people who’s Hubpages earnings are large have achieved it through hard work over an extended period of time.

Money is made through advertising, principally through using Google Adsense and Amazon adverts. The Google Adsense money is split between you and HubPages, with you getting 60% and HubPages getting 40%, this is actually a pretty good rate when you compare it with other sites, such as MyLot or Squidoo, where the income rate tends to be lower in my experience (although I can only speculate as neither site publicly reveals the exact proportion of money that they pay out to their users). The Amazon rate works on a different principle, you get 4% cut of any money spent on Amazon products after a viewer has clicked on one of your adverts and HubPages don’t take anything from you. This can work out as quite a decent payout if you strike it lucky and someone buys a computer or TV from Amazon. (Ebay and Kontara can also be used to generate income, but are used much less by hubbers than Google Adsense and Amazon).

Hubpages is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to make money writing online in my experience. Unlike many other writing online opportunities, you are free to write about any topic you choose and there are minimal restrictions in terms of style, length, and tone. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, yes it is, but you will have to have good English language skills, write engaging material, cover topics that people are looking for online, and be prepared to promote yourself, if you want to do well on Hubpages.

Well, yes and no. Of course, you can sign up with HubPages and just write about the topics that interest you and you will make some money, but probably only 20 cents a day. The people who make serious amounts of money with HubPages (dollars rather than cents) choose their topics and titles of their hubs very carefully, spend time researching and writing their hubs, and they do everything they can to promote their hubs and also to get them to appear high up in search engine results. They do this using a collection of techniques known as SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO can influence every aspect of their writing, from picking the topic and title of your hub, to the keywords that they include in their work.

Even if a one second hit takes you only three minutes to complete, you are still looking at a pay rate of just 12c an hour. That means you'd have to spend an entire day working on Mechanical Turk just to earn a single dollar. The 2 cent Mechanical Turk hits aren't much better. The only way that these hits pay is if all you're doing is clicking on something or copying and pasting a word or phrase.

It's worth looking at whether it's worth it before you get involved with an Amazon Mechanical Turk hit. Some of them require a qualification test to be passed before you can even begin working on the hit(s) proper. Some of them have extensive instructions, slowing you down and increasing the chance of you getting your submitted hits rejected. If there are plenty of Mechanical Turk hits for you to do and the pay's not too bad, it may still be worth you accepting the hit, but give the matter a little thought too.
