Lockoneyes's List: If I Were the Devil

  • Cyberlegends

Cyberlegends was one of the most helpful sources that I found it had the cleanest set up and was easy to read and understand not to much information making it simplified and easier to process.

    • Paul Harvey
    • An email, with a link to an audio on YouTube, is currently making its way through cyberspace. Purportedly written and broadcast by Paul Harvey in 1965, it contains what seems to be eerily accurate predictions of the future, allegedly proving the devil is at work.

  • Influential conservative American radio host

Before this project I had no idea who Paul Harvey was so I decided that I should look him up before hand and this is the only website that gave me as much information as I possibly needed for the project and not overwhelming like Wikipedia had.

    • "Paul Harvey News and Comment" was a fixture on the ABC Network for 58 years, its audience estimated at up to 25 million, and its advertising value so great that, at the age of 82, he signed a 10-year contract for $100m.
    • Harvey's delivery, with its staccato rhythms and long pauses for effect, echoed the manic punchiness of Walter Winchell, but leavened by the calm midwestern tones of Walter Cronkite

  • PAUL HARVEY'S FAMED SOLILOQUY ON AMERICA

Th source help me better understand exactly why the essay was so popular and rewritten for years to come I wasn't exactly conservative when going into this but now I better understand the point of view of Paul Harvey.

    • It’s been rerun, recorded, replayed, reproduced, restored and there’s no better time to re-hear famed broadcaster Paul Harvey’s notable “If I Were the Devil”
    • That, anyway, was Harvey’s conclusion circa 1965 when the commentary probably first was broadcast.

  • eRumor

This source is more helpful on the opponent point of view of myself even if there wasn't much written and it was something of a regurgitating read when it came to the essay I still felt like it was worthwhile source that helped a lot more than I would have thought.

    • According to WorldNetDaily(WND), this was  written by Paul Harvey and copyrighted by WorldNetDaily in 1999
    • We found a recording of Harvey's commentary in a  March 23, 2012 Fox Nation   article, which contained a link to the popular media sharing site, YouTube.    The Fox article said that it aired on the ABC radio network on April 3,   1965.
  • Tbrickert blog

This blog was helpful in comparing the two essays that were most popular on the Internet the original version and the rewritten broadcasted version.

    • Here is the audio of his last version(1993/1994) of the essay. I follow it with the original text, printed in 1964. It’s fascinating to compare them, and it highlights the phrase ”writing is rewriting.”
