Ning site for Moodle users and Admins
I have been thinking about and scouring the net for ‘best’ models of trying to get teachers to use Moodle for some time. I have tried a few things myself with mixed success until the most obvious thing hit me.
Educate is an iPhone/iTouch application designed to support teaching professionals in schools, universities and colleges.
We have finished our version of Moodle for the iPhone. It is not an iPhone app but we have made it look like one
A few words about the MLE (Mobile Learning Engine). The company eLibera OG from Graz Austria has developed a mobile Moodle interface which enables all Moodle users to access a site on their mobile phone. The users can either download the J2ME application or just use the mobile net to enter Moodle on their mobiles. The MLE can also be configured and edited with a WYSIWYG editor to create content specifically for mobile users.
An out-of-the-box mobile Learning system. Which contains everything you need to build a mLearning system. Easy to install and easy to use.
Moodle for Mobiles is designed to work with mobile phones in Japan. It is a non-standard addition to Moodle that was originally designed for use with Moodle 1.6 and now has been updated to work with Moodle 1.9. It interfaces with Moodle using CHTML (Compact HTML). Included are module plugins for the feedback module and quiz module (multiple choice and matching questions only).
One recent interesting development in mobile learning has been the creation of mobile interfaces for Online Learning Environments. Here at the University of Canberra, I’ve been investigating one particular extension for the University’s new Moodle-based learning environment: the free and open source Mobile Learning Engine (MLE).

After seeing the flexibility, robustness and ‘organic’ nature of Moodle the choice was pretty simple to make.
