National Army Museumwebsite provides basic information regarding 'famous units' in British Army history. Many regiments covered, and list continually updated.

Find the location of all the military museums across the UK, including address, contact details and what regiment each is responsible for.

Information and video archive concerning the Accrington Pals. Similar sites exist dedicated to other units and regiments. This site also has a very detailed research guide.

The museum for the Liverpool Scottish Regiment unfortunately closed, but the website of the trust continues and is in the process of creating an online collection by digitalising their archive and therefore preserving their story.

The Cheshire Military Museum in Chester tells the stories of the various regiments of Cheshire and holds the archive of the Cheshire Regiment. Enquiries welcome.

The Cumbria Museum of Military Life in Carlisle is the museum of the Border and King's Own Royal Border Regiments. Possess large archive of documents and photos relating to the history of the regiment. Enquiries via email or online form, personal visits preferably by appointment.

The Fusilier Museum in Bury dedicated to the story of the 20th Regiment of Foot and the Lancashire Fusiliers until 1968 when they became the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Visitors are welcome to use the library and archive for research.

From the King's Own Museum in Lancaster, the history of each WWI battalion of the King's Own Royal Regiment's whereabouts are available online. THere is a very comprehensive archive both online and on site, including trench maps and deserters lists. Enquiries welcome.

Museum of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment in Preston, whose collections encompass the now amalgamated Loyal North Lancs., East Lancs., and South Lancashire Regiments. Website features histories of such, and museum collection extensive. Army Lists, war diaries, regimental magazines and archive available for research enquiries.

Located in Ashton-under-Lyme, the Museum has information regarding the regiment during WWI available online and on site

The Museum of Liverpool houses the collection of the King's Regiment, with permanent exhibition on site - including interactive that assists in medal identification. Enquiries welcome.

The Penrith and Eden Museum houses the collection of the Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry. The dedicated regimental museum at Dalemain, Cumbria now closed.

This centre holds the archives for the Manchester Regimental. The archives include thousands of photographs of men of the Regiment through the ages and documents and diaries that tell their stories along with many other sources of information for you to look at.
