Produced jointly by the British Council and the Premier League, The Football Remembers education pack for teachers is designed to offer support and resources for pupils learning about the Truce events that took place in 1914, during the First World War.
the British Red Cross have produced a mini-site commemorating their work during the First World War. It includes lots of information about their volunteers, auxillary hospitals, convalescent homes and work distributing food parcels. There are special sections on the women's role in World War One.
The King's Own Royal Regiment Museum in Lancaster has an extensive collection of First World War photos which can be viewed online.
The First World War Poetry Digital Archive from Oxford University is an online repository of over 7000 items of text, images, audio, and video for teaching, learning, and research. Click on the 'Education' link for interactive resources. The 'Great War Archive' link also contains over 6,500 items contributed by the general public between March and June 2008. Every item originates from, or relates to, someone's experience of the First World War, either abroad or at home. Contributions were received via a special website and also through a series of open days at libraries and museums throughout the country.
The Football and the First World War Project will create a central database of information related to the sport of Association Football during the Great War. Data will be collated by anyone interested in the subject matter, including ‘Citizen Historians’, who will work together to present information available to academics, researchers and family historians worldwide.
The Project aims to create a lasting legacy for the centenary of the First World War.
