Kathy Gorski's List: Climate Advocacy

Coalition on the Public Understanding of Science. Well, okay… not a polar resource. But this relatively new advocacy organization that endeavors to promote public awareness and understanding of science. It has big name supporters that suggest it will be an ever growing resource deserving of periodic visits to the site.

The Union of Concerned Scientists has a great deal of information and many resources for educators.

The author of this website (wondering mind42) has a youtube channel that includes the video "How it all ends." Good way to grab kids attention, to show to the skeptics, and to set the stage for discussing things like risk and the nature of science. From the site: "Furthermore, we wish to shift the question often asked in popular culture from "Are we certain we're responsible for global warming?" to "Given the risks and uncertainties of global warming, what is the best action to take?" "

Direct link to "How It All Ends," the best known resource from the Manpollo project, which looks at climate change not as 'who is responsible' but as a study in risk assessment. From here you can subscribe to the author's YouTube channel that contains other videos from the project and more.
