The Literacy Shed is home to a wealth of visual resources that I have collected over my 10 year career as a primary school teacher. I trawl youtube, vimeo and other sites looking for suitbale resources to use in the sheds. The sheds are broadly thematic but sometimes a resource could go in 2 or more sheds, I slot it in where I think it works best.
The STAR program at MIT seeks to bridge the divide between scientific research and the classroom. Understanding and applying research methods in the classroom setting can be challenging due to time constraints and the need for advanced equipment and facilities. The multidisciplinary STAR team collaborates with faculty from MIT and other educational institutions to design software exploring core scientific research concepts. The goal of STAR is to develop innovative and intuitive teaching tools for classroom use.
All of the STAR educational tools are freely available. To complement our educational software, the STAR website contains curriculum components/modules which can facilitate the use of STAR educational tools in a variety of educational settings. Students, teachers, and professors should feel welcome to download software and curriculum modules for their own use. We welcome your comments and feedback as you explore these educational tools.
All of the lessons in this library have been contributed by BLOSSOMS partners from around the world, including educators from MIT and institutions in Jordan, Pakistan, and other partnering countries.
We invite you to watch the Teacher’s Guide Video Segment included with each lesson to learn more about it. The final segment of each BLOSSOMS video lesson is a one-on-one conversation between you and the “virtual teacher.” In this Teacher's Guide Segment, the virtual teacher discusses the learning objectives of the lesson and shares ideas on ways to conduct the in-class activities that will engage students during the breaks between video segments.

why is our solar solution revolutionary? First, it's a residential shingle - in both its installation technique and in the roofing protection it provides. In addition, it generates solar electricity by integrating solar cells into the design. In other words, the shingle is the solar panel, and the solar panel is the shingle.
While they are not yet commercially available, we're moving along and getting closer to having the DOW™ POWERHOUSE™ SOLAR SHINGLE on U.S. rooftops in 2011. But, we're not waiting until then to show them off.
