Abby Kim's List: F/J Kim, Abby; Korea 2020

  • Mar 01, 11

This website talks about the identification, the location and geography, demography, linguistic affiliation, and symbolism. They talk about the history of Korea and the Ethnic Relations and explains how that past is effecting Korea's present. It has nice pictures that show and give an idea of what it was like, and explains Korea's national identity. It not only holds the information of the past, but also the urbanism, architecture and the use of space. The website talks about Korea's food and economy and how that's important to the culture. This website is very helpful for finding information and details like the social stratification, the political life, the leadership and political officials, the social problems and control, the military activity, the social welfare and change programs, nongovernmental organizations and other associations, gender roles and statuses, the marriage, family, and kinship, the socialization, Etiquette, the Religion, the Medicine and Health Care, Secular Celebrations, The Arts and Humanities, and even The State of the Physical and Social Sciences. Again, this website is very helpful when you're looking for lots of information and details. It also provides a bibliography at the bottom!

    • Koreans share a common culture, but a sense of regionalism exists between  northerners and southerners and between southeasterners and  southwesterners in terms of customs and perceived personality  characteristics.
      • This shows that South Koreans and North Koreans have had differences since the past because of the surroundings that they're in, the economy, the community, the language, food, culture, beliefs, and how that can effect the present and the future.

    • In South Korea politicized regionalism has emerged between the  southeastern (Kyongsang Province) and southwestern regions (Cholla  Province) since the late 1960s as a result of an uneven pattern of  development that benefits people in the southeast.

      • This shows that ever since 1960, so many things have changed between the two countries. This could answer the unit question based on seeing how things have developed since the past, how much they could change in the future, resulting a even greater result.

This site/document is basically about predicting the future of North Korea, based on things that have happened in the past. This should be included in the class list because it gives great points back to what happened before, and how that could change things around later on. It relates to details from before of what North Korea has and had been going through, and how that could change their decisions and what they do, and how they do it. This document simply explains the internal and external developments and wild cards that could affect developments. It also talks about the outcomes and what they might be, based on what they know from what has happened. It also gives references at the end, so you could check those resources, too.

This is another document that explains briefly about the past and the history. I think this website should be in the Class List because it gives great details on the key points of the things that North Korea is in need of, and some of the areas in where they need help and support. For example, it talks about the shortness of food, the economy, the community, the credibility and time consistency, implication for political stability, and etc. I think this website is great to use because they have tables and charts that show information based on things that might help for our project and will help answer our unit question.
