Jiawen Lin's List: Diigo review

• --not just the basic titles, tags, and URLs that Del.icio.us goes through--as  well as your own highlights and comments.

• , Diigo highlights and sticky notes are persistent in the sense that whenever  you return to the original web page, you will see your highlights and sticky  notes superimposed on the original page, just what you would expect if you  highlighted or wrote on a book!

• That means that you are no longer limited to leaving comments on blogs, you can  do so in any type of page (even static pages). Diigo enables you to drop your  comment exactly where it is relevant, not at the end of a long list.

• They can then create interactive sticky notes and digital highlights in  different colors. When the user returns to the resource, their notes and  highlights remain present so they can quickly reference information as they need  it. Using these tools, users of Diigo can read faster and retain information  more efficiently.
• Diigo users also gain insights of other members of the website. On the basis of  users’ interests, its software also recommends matching resources and news to  them. Users can also search out people with matching interests through their  tags and websites.
• Users were able to compile libraries and add their own notes and highlights
• These overlaid elements could be referenced later as the user needed them. Users  are also given public and private setting options so they can collaborate and  share their notes with others, or keep them out of sight.

• I can tell the Diigo toolbar to show me whenever a page I’m on has had notes  left by myself or other users, whichever I prefer. I can leave stickynotes,  private pop-up annotation, attached to any highlighted text and those notes will  remain available whenever I return to the page later.
