How-to:
If your school is contemplating reform, the Hogg Middle School parents' reform group recommends that your team start by asking yourselves these questions:
* If you could have any school you wanted, what type of school would you choose?
* Does your group have a shared passion and united vision for the kind of school you want?
* If no one has a background in education, whom can you invite to join your group who does?
* Are you familiar with any really good schools?
* What makes those schools so good?
* What do the principals and leaders of those schools attribute their success to?
* How can you get to know the key decision makers who will help you move forward with your hopes and plans for the school?
* How can you establish a means of participation in the process to ensure you are not sidelined or "managed" by the system while it goes about business as usual?
* Can you dedicate enough time and energy over the next few years to see your vision through to the end?
