This site gives many, many activity design ideas for using Google Apps in learning. Invaluable tips and ideas, and doesn't have to be restricted to Google apps!
Google Apps are collaborative, which makes them highly powerful. They offer opportunities for students to engage unlike ever before. Here are 20 ideas.
The spiel above is pretty much says it all, however, I think this site provides some solid ideas on how to utilise existing technology. PC's usually have these apps, so you can design you e Learning course around them, and you probably wouldn't really need the LMS.
I like the idea of being able to use say Facebook as THE LMS and Google docs as the copy- so to speak.

Relevance: Invaluable to me for my preliminary research for e Design and E technologies. It was great fun ( mesmerising actually) exploring some of the sites. I I like the fact that there are FREE LMS systems available to play with- so creative commons!

Urban myths by Paul Kirschner.
This is Paul Kirschner presenting a lecture on Learning Myths. It is long, but worthwhile.
This resource is not just relevant to my current project, but it is relevant to my whole teaching practice. Paul Kirschner is an educational psychologist in the Netherlands, who has done a lot of research into learning myths and how they are informing education today.
It is interesting to note that some of these "myths'' have been around since the 50's - beginning with 'Maslow's (Learning) Hierarchy of Needs' as applied to learning and 'the Learning Pyramid". These tropes have been found to be without ANY EVIDENCE AT ALL. Kirschner makes the point that all theories need to be testable- proven right or proven wrong- and how academic rigour has been lacking in lot of these 'pedagogical' givens'.
Notions of self- regulated learning' are of particular relevance for educational planners, and in his article " Do learners really know best? Urban Legends in Education', Kirschner takes apart ''digital natives; multitasking; learnings and learning styles; and of course, 'learners as self-regulators'.
My suspicion regarding learning styles and collaborative knowledge construction (and the subsequent research results) has made me trust my own teaching intuitions more, and has made me question harder what is presented as 'fact' in pedagogy.

This is an example of a WebQuest I recently designed in Weebly.
Why is the relevant to this project?
I like the feel of the quest - it is designed to move the student on. And it is designed with an audience in mind, hence the direct language and scaffolding.
In this lesson our instructor talks about the world wide web and an introduction to HTML. He first talks about looking at source code and HTML 5. He finishes by showing an example of how to create your first web page and what you need to do so.
I love coding! I can't actually DO it yet, but I want to learn it. I think that being ablt to code to tailor your design, would add a very authentic dimension to e learning.
design.
Relevance for my e Technology is the fact that I can expand my 'range' with some coding skill. ( Maybe not this time, but in the future).
