    • Geodata is information about geographic locations that is stored in a format that can be used with a geographic information system (GIS).

      Geodata can be stored in a database, geodatabase, shapefile, coverage, raster image, or even a dbf table or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

    • another term for geotechnical engineering (a branch of civil engineering that is concerned with construction in or on the ground. It deals with the study of subsurface conditions and materials through soil and rock mechanics, of the stability of slopes, of earthworks and foundations, etc.). 
       
       Geotechnology is important in road building.
