Jaimedawn's List: Christian Persecution Exists in America

  • The Reality is, Christians in America ARE Persecuted

Obviously, American Christian Persecution typically takes place in more passive forms in America than it does in other countries across the world. However, that does not mean it is not taking place, which it is. As a nation we need to address that Christians are being persecuted by having their Christian rights removed or hindered in multiple areas of their lives.

  • Denial

The easiest way not to have to address any issue is not to acknowledge it, or to deny it. This is what I see happening across America about whether Christians are persecuted in this country. Therefore, I want to shed light, from a Christians perspective, on how Christians ARE persecuted in the United States!

This article, like so many more found on the internet, dispute that American Christians are persecuted. Just because we are not having our heads cut off, our houses burned, and we are allowed to have bibles and attend church does not mean persecution of Christians in America does not exist!

    • But why would messages about martyrdom and victimhood be so galvanizing to a group of people who are, by almost any measure possible, objectively not being persecuted?
  • Don't misunderstand me, I am very thankful for the rights that Christians in America, including myself, still possess. I love attending Church whenever I want, reading my bible when I choose, and even speaking of the Lord whenever I want to. However, even these rights are being discarded, throughout America, as prayer has been taken out of schools, Churches are being closed for offending visitors, and people are being fired for speaking of Jesus and biblical sin in public!

  • Recognizing Christian Persecution

  • Apr 13, 14

This amazing blog by Robert J. Morgan talks of Christian persecution, across the world, and the importance of recognizing that in the Bible we are shown how even a perfect Christian Man was persecuted. Jesus simply told the world about His saving grace and was put to death. However, before He was crucified, Jesus suffered more mild forms of persecution such as verbal abuse. Sound like America today? I think so!

    • Last spring, I was having supper with Christian workers who had devoted their lives to North Africa. They were retired missionaries. I left the table to take a call from a reporter. He wanted my opinion on the subject of the persecution of Christians, claiming many of his sources in the media and academia were downplaying accounts of Christian persecution, both past and present. I gave a few comments, then returned to my companions who were in mid-story, telling one account after another of the devastation occurring in their former areas on labor -- churches burned, Christians killed, believers fired from jobs, church members imprisoned, leaders slain.

I thought to myself, anyone who downplays the persecution of Christians is deeply mistaken.

    • While it's true attacks are mounting against adherents of other faiths, 80 percent of all acts of religious discrimination in the world today are directed at Christians.

  • Examples of Persecution

American Christians are persecuted in a variety of ways, some of them may seem minimal and petty. However, if we allow the little bits of persecution to continue taking place, soon it will be large, more brutal, types of persecution. Sadly, freedom of religion and freedom of speech do not always apply to everyone, especially to Christians.

This is one of many examples of how Christians, in America, are persecuted and discriminated against. The double standards behind this case are extraordinarily unfair. Take note of how the court is concerned with the fact that they feel the rights of a Gay couple have been violated. However, no concern is given to Elane, the woman who stands behind her Christian beliefs, and the fact that her rights to freedom of religion are being stomped upon. There is no evidence to support that Elane was anything but Christ-like (to be like Jesus Christ) as she declined to photograph a gay marriage. To be Christ-like is to be as described in Galatians 5:22 & 23

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

    • The U.S. Supreme Court Monday declined to hear Elane Photography v. Willock, the case of a photographer who was told by the New Mexico Supreme Court that she must, as “the price of citizenship,” use her creative talents to communicate a message with which she disagrees or suffer punishment.

Nonetheless, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys representing Elane Photography and its owners, Jonathan and Elaine Huguenin, point out that the central concern in the case—government punishment of Americans for declining to create or promote messages with which they disagree—is alive in other ADF cases moving forward around the country.

  • Pure & Plain Persecution...Freedoms Taken from Christians

  • Apr 20, 14

This story is simply confusing to me. Why would we need a permit to witness to or share God's word in public...it is called "Freedom of Speech". Even if Christians (Parker & Karns) need a permit to preach in public, why would these men have been taken to jail and not simply given a citation?

    • Two Christian evangelists were arrested in West Windsor, New Jersey early Tuesday morning after preaching the Gospel without obtaining permission and for attempting to record the encounter with police.
    • Robert Parker and Don Karns state that they have been preaching at the Princeton Junction train station for several years, which is a part of the New Jersey Transit system, a provider of public transportation.

  • Trouble Brewing

If the Bible is going to be removed from our armed forces, we are in trouble as a country! What would our forefathers think?

  • Apr 13, 14

This is one, of many, incidents involving the U.S. Armed Forces which demonstrates discrimination against Christians, and Religion. This country was founded on God; the men in our armed forces are fighting to protect the rights we have in America. However, the freedom to express religion is being trampled in this incident of persecution.

    • I agree with retired Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin, now executive vice president of the Family Research Council, who explained to Starnes: "Once the academy allowed cadets to use these whiteboards for their personal use, censorship of religious commentary is unacceptable. Either the Air Force Academy is very confused about the Constitution of the United States or they don't really believe in the liberties that are provided by that document. In essence, what they are doing is preparing young men and women to defend the Constitution while at the same time depriving these cadets of their own constitutional liberties."

In this incident, of persecution, the rights of Christians to have a Bible present to honor missing soldiers was taken away, possibly not to be returned. Apparently, the Bible was removed because it offended atheist's. However it offends Christians, including myself, to be told when and where we can have a Bible!

    • The Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County, Fla., is currently embroiled in controversy after a Bible honoring missing soldiers and prisoners of war was removed from one of the base's dining halls earlier this month.
    • The purpose of the Bible is to "[represent] the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God," according to the Air Force Chiefs website.

The "Freedom FROM Religion" foundation, is persecuting Governor Walker for expressing his right to have "Freedom OF Speech", and "Freedom OF Religion" in America. If our rights to express how we feel, about the Lord, on our own personal social pages (such as Face Book) are taken away, then we might as well live in a country that has complete control over how we believe, and what we say. Are these the ideals Americans are adopting? I hope NOT!

    • Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes he can do all things through Christ, but an atheist group charges that he cannot do all things through Christ on his official social media platforms.
    • The Freedom From Religion Foundation has demanded Walker remove posts from his official Facebook and Twitter feeds that read, “Philippians 4:13.”

    • According to a new Pew Research Center analysis, six-in-ten Americans (60%) say that “humans and other living things have evolved over time,” while a third (33%) reject the idea of evolution, saying that “humans and other living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.” The share of the general public that says that humans have evolved over time is about the same as it was in 2009, when Pew Research last asked the question.

  • Christians Stay Strong!

Bible believing, God created the Universe, Earth, Humans, and all else, Christians are in the minority. Being a minority, it is not surprising that persecution, and discrimination, of Christians is taking place in America. Christians, we have to stay strong in our faith, always giving our troubles to the Lord. Regardless of our struggles and the many ways we may be persecuted God is, always was, and always will be ALMIGHTY!
