Jesus was not a crusader, and he was much more circumspect -- perhaps even doubtful -- about his identity as the Messiah. In you are not sure about that, read Matthew chapter 10, where he commissions the disciples to preach to "the lost sheep of Israel" -- and not the gentiles or the Samaritans. Or Jesus's frequent admonition to those he had cured NOT to go running off telling others that "the messiah" had healed them. His principal disciple Peter was admonished not to tell anyone he was the messiah, after Peter's passionate confession of his feeling that Jesus was. But Rick Perry is not interested in these things. He is just another sleazy, snake-oil dealing politician, who takes money from rich contributors to do things that they want, however that may impact the lives of ordinary working Texans. Jesus would have turned him out of the temple in Jerusalem with the money-changers.
