Cross Trade considers itself a social enterprise.  Our purpose, investing in the lives of the poor in NE Brazil, and market based strategy of retailing and wholesaling their products in the USA and Brazil, indicate this assessment is accurate.

Cross Trade began operations in 2003 by developing relationships with eight families located in the state of Ceará on the northeast coast of Brazil. Since that time we have grown to serving 50 families in six states stretching east from the Amazon region - Amazonas, Pará, Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, and Minas Gerais. We purpose to help families located in non-tourist areas, remote from primary economic activity of Brazil.

Cross Trade’s store, located in downtown Blowing Rock at 1087-2 Main Street, is a testament to the hard work and talent of the 50 families who have the products on display. Visitors are introduced to the artisans by videos and photographs. There you are able to inspect the entire array of offerings that come from the mysterious Amazon to the mountains near Rio de Janeiro. The quality of the products are readily appreciated by everyone that allow themselves to draw closer to those we serve.

Cross Trade is willing to do a presentation for classrooms about their mission.
