The water and sanitation problem in the developing world is far too big for charity alone. We are driving the water sector for new solutions, new financing models, greater transparency, and real partnerships to create lasting change. Our vision: the day when everyone in the world can take a safe drink of water.

Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org is a nonprofit organization that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation.

Water.org traces its roots back to the founding of WaterPartners in 1990. In July 2009, WaterPartners merged with H2O Africa, resulting in the launch of Water.org. Water.org works with local partners to deliver innovative solutions for long-term success. Its microfinance-based WaterCredit Initiative is pioneering sustainable giving in the sector.

Included on the site are a wealth of resources for educators....videos, statistics, stories, and lesson plans.

This is an online class for high school/college age students. Not all aspects of it are available (quizzes, discussions, tests), but it is a great introduction to cultural diversity for students.

Description: In this unit, we will explore many issues related to cultural diversity and the global community. Entire college courses are built around the topic of globalization and whether or not globalization is enhancing cultural diversity or limiting it. Over the next four sections, we will take a look at terms such as culture, society, and civilization and evaluate social and political factors affecting cultural interactions. One of the most pressing contemporary world issues is that of bridging the gap between the Muslim world and the West. We will spend an entire section learning more about Islam and some of the global issues involving Muslims. Finally, we will evaluate the role of governments and organizations around the world spearheading humanitarian efforts and tackling human justice issues.
