Denitrification is a crucial step in the nitrogen cycle.
During this process, nitrates are converted to another form. Originally, the nitrates are found in soil or in dead organic matter.
During the denitrification process, the nitrates become nitrite, nitrous oxide, ammonia, or elemental nitrogen. Most commonly, the nitrates are converted into the pure nitrogen element.

The U.S. sugar program seems to be on track to be continued in the 2012 Farm Bill, Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., said Friday. "We need to continue the no-cost sugar program and it needs to be part of the farm bill, and I believe it will be," he said.

The U.S. sugar program seems to be on track to be continued in the 2012 Farm Bill, Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., said Friday.
World grain stocks continue to grow.
The USDA surprised traders with larger-than-expected ending stock estimates in its December supply/demand report, which was released Friday morning.
"The numbers are undoubtedly bearish. We've seen world corn go up in a massive way, an increase of close to 50 million tonnes on production, and record stocks on that side. On the wheat side, it's equally bearish with exports down and production up. World stocks are up again to one of the largest levels in the last twelve years," says Stuart McMillan, analyst with the Canadian Wheat Board.
