Wanted to use 8.04 LTS because I need to have Lotus Notes support, but 8.04 installer did not recognise 25" monitor: display stayed blank. Moved to 9.04 which automatically recognised the monitor.
8.04 does not initially recognise tablet and pen of X41T. 9.04 does - without and change.
Ubuntu 9.04 runs on Thinkpads in a windows network. Selecting network it shows the network, but when trying to open the network to see the nodes, the response is "unable to mount location". 8.04 opened the network and showed the windows network nodes.
Remember, this was in either case before any changes of any settings.

Tried this ...
"Installing Lotus Notes 8.5.1 FP1 on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx 64bit"
unfortunately this requires a vesion of Lotus Notes that I do not seem to be able to get from the IBM/Lotus downloads.
