The study is being done by the UMDNJ, the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center in Derby, Conn., and Duke Integrative Medicine Center in Durham, NC. It is being funded by a $2.75 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Naugatuck Mayor Robert Mezzo, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan President John Roman, Naugatuck Savings Bank President and CFO Chuck Boulier, and Naugatuck Rotary Club President Jennifer Merrill joined Charmel to collect tips as part of the “Waiters go Pink” event.
The online portion of Autumn Elegance Auction 2011 is now open. The auction will run from October 20, 2011 to November 3, 2011, with the live event taking place on November 5, 2011. Seymour Pink Inc. is a non-profit organization that has donated money to the Griffin Hospital Wellness Campaign, provided scholarships to graduating seniors, provided gifts cards for the purchase of groceries, provided nutritional supplements for chemotherapy patients, subsidized rent payments, paid for medical deductibles, chemotherapy treatments, doctor’s visit deductibles and other charitable causes, according to its website.
Hersam Acorn Newspapers will run a 'Scanvenger Hunt' ad with participating businesses in The Valley Gazette, The Amity Observer and The Huntington Herald in conjunction with Griffin Hospital's The Valley Goes Pink. The 'Scanvenger Hunt' ad will run October 13 and the hunt will take place October 14-22. The grand prize winner will receive an Apple iPad! (iPad provided by Griffin Hospital.) The Shelton High School Boys Soccer Program will support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will be representing the cause by wearing PINK during all of their October home games: October 4, 17, 19 and 24 starting 7:00 p.m. at Finn Stadium. In addition they will be offering "A Carnation For A Donation". Other activities will take place during the games. Come down and help us support the cause and "Think Pink".
Both Naugatuck and its competitor, Watertown, will be dressed in pink attire and will be playing with a pink ball during their 6 p.m. match at Naugatuck High School.
Ansonia High School cheerleaders will be collecting money Oct. 7 to donate to Griffin Hospital's the "Valley Goes Pink" campaign.
