    Inventors.about.com

    - Bellis, Marry. "Nikola Tesla." About.com Inventors. N.p., n.d. Web. 21 May 2013.

             - This site gives me a general and basic understanding of who Nicola Tesla was as well as his main contributions and actions in his life. It does not go into full detail put it gives me a strong back bone for my research stating the main and important events and facts about Nikola Tesla's life story. With that being said this is a very reliable source because it is from the about.com website.

    Worldbookonline

    - Prigo, Robert B. "Tesla, Nikola." World Book Advanced. World Book, 2013. Web.  21 May 2013.

         - This site is also like the inventors.about.com site. Although it is filled with useful information, they are not as in depth as the Sirs article. This wordbookonline article gives a brief amount of knowledge regarding Tesla himself and his early life yet it does a good and useful job as it focuses the most on Nikola Tesla's inventions instead.

    Sirs

    - Hawthorne, Mark. "Tesla: Electricity's Mastermind." Hinduism Today. May/June 2001: 47-49. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 21 May 2013.

             - This site has the most detail regarding the story of Nikola Tesla. Not only that but it also goes more in depth with the engineer as it reveals more detail of not only his achievements but also his life. This cite is a a resourceful and trusted source because it is passed by Erecourses. This article also reveals more information regarding Tesla especially regarding the journey of Tesla which brought him to being so successful.

    Nikola Tesla Portrait

    - "Nikola Tesla (1856-1943)- Scientist and Inventor.” Teslasociety.com. Web. 20 May 2013.

             - This picture pertains to my project because it is a picture of the portrait of the person who I am researching as my game changer. It is essential to have a picture of the game changer for my project.

    Nikola Tesla Tower

    - "Tesla Tower in Shoreham Long Island (1901-1917) meant to be the "World Wireless" Broadcasting system." Teslasociety.com. Web. 20 May 2013.

          - This picture pertains to my project because it is the picture of the Tesla Tower which was created to by Tesla and was known as one of his biggest projects. The idea of the Tesla Tower was to use it as a way to transport free electricity as well as communication for everyone

  • Nikola Tesla: Spark of Genius

    - Dommermuth-Costa, Carol. Nikola Tesla : A Spark of Genius. Minneapolis: Lerner Publications Co., 1994. Print.

                -   This book is the biography of Nikola Tesla where it portrays the life and accomplishments of the Croatian-born engineer who developed alternating-current technology, invented the radio and many more. The book goes into detail as if in a story or novel type of manner. This book can give me all the information I need and more. The book talks about Nikola Tesla who was born in the town of Smiljan Croatia. Tesla is really the true inventor of the radio. He developed technology that harnesed alternating - current electricity. His contributions are experienced when we turn on a light, listen to the stereo, and watch television. This book talks about how he had worked with Edison as Edison promised him money in exchange for him working for Edison. Edison ended up not paying Tesla so he quit and they went their seperate ways. Edison had become his archrival as there was conflict between the two afterwards. Tesla later works with George Westinghouse. Tesla had been living in poverty for a while in his life time. This book is my most reliable source as tells the life of Nikola Tesla in a detailed and organised manner. When it comes to gaining knowledge of details, this book is my best source on Nikola Tesla. This book is a good source because it also shows the many bibliographical references that it has on the back of the book. With that being said the author is also a member of the Tesla Memorial Society.

    Scientists:

    - Saari, Peggy, and Stephen Allison. Scientists; The Lives and Works of 150 Scientists. Vol.3. Detroit, MI: UXL, 1996. Print.

          - This book contains a biography of Nikola Tesla as it provides me information on his early live, experiences, achievments, as well as point out the important of Nikola Tesla. The book talks about many topics like Tesla's challenging the Gramme dynamo, him beginning to work in Edison's plants, finding his own electric company, and creating the first efficent polyphase motor. Other things that this site gives information on is Nikola Tesla beginning to work for Westinghouse, designing the world's first hydroelectric generating plant, his attenion to the radio, as well as creating his own artificial lightning. Almost winning the Nobel Prize and his death are also discussed in this book. The reason as to why this book is a good source is because it is part of the Scientist; The Lives and Works of 150 Scientitst, as it is one of the three volumes. With that being said on every scientitst that is dicussed they have their own bibliographical reference at the end of each scienti's section.

    Bellis, Marry. "Nikola Tesla." About.com Inventors. N.p., n.d. Web. 21 May 2013.

    • During his lifetime, Tesla invented fluorescent lighting, the Tesla induction motor, the Tesla coil, and developed the alternating current (AC) electrical supply system that included a motor and transformer, and 3-phase electricity.
    • Tesla is now credited with inventing modern radio as well; since the Supreme Court overturned Guglielmo Marconi's patent in 1943 in favor of Nikola Tesla's earlier patents. When an engineer (Otis Pond) once said to Tesla, "Looks as if Marconi got the jump on you" regarding Marconi's radio system, Tesla replied, "Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents."

    • Nikola Tesla is not as famous as his contemporary, Thomas Edison, but his inventions brought the world into our modern age.
    • Tesla popularized alternating current and invented the Tesla Coil, which makes the high voltage that drives the picture tube (CRT) in your computer, and ultimately received proper credit for inventing the radio, instead of Guglielmo Marconi, whose radio used essential components patented by Tesla.

    • He studied engineering at two institutions in Austria-Hungary. Those educational institutions were Graz Technical University (now in Austria) and the University of Prague (now in the Czech Republic). Tesla left the University of Prague in 1880, without a degree, after his father died. He then worked for a short time for Austria-Hungary's telephone system in Budapest (now in Hungary). In 1882, Tesla moved to Paris. There he worked for the Continental Edison Company.
    • The alternating-current system. While at Graz Technical University, Tesla had seen a demonstration of a generator run as a direct current (DC) motor. Direct current is electric current that flows in only one direction. During the demonstration, the brushes and the commutator of the motor sparked violently. The brushes are devices that conduct the current in a DC motor. The commutator continually reverses the current so that the motor continues to rotate in one direction. Tesla believed a motor without a commutator could be devised. In 1881, while walking in a park, Tesla got an idea for a simple way to produce such a device. In 1883, while on assignment for Continental Edison in Strasbourg, France, Tesla used his spare time to build his first polyphase (out-of-step) AC motor. In such a motor, coils are arranged so that when out-of-step alternating currents energize them, the resulting magnetic field rotates at a predetermined speed
