Teachers give ideas about how to reinforce or introduce vocab in a classroom. Many activities require students to have books in front of them.
Review what an adjectives and synonyms are. Divide students into 3-4 teams and instruct teams to come up with one adjective that can describe the two nouns on the board. Points are given if no other team has the same answer.
This is a game where students brainstorm lists of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Once the lists are made, the teacher writes the choices on note cards for the following day. Students then play "rummy": they are given 7 cards and have to make a sentence.
This website provides a list of words in alphabetical order that are very unique and deemed "fun." Each word is defined. It's a wonderful resource when writing.
This is a lesson plan teaching students what fables and trickster tales are. The lesson compares and contrasts the two and uses four books to show similarities and differences between fables and trickster tales.
