  • Digital immigrant

    A digital immigrant is someone born before the technological advances of today. They have had to make the choice, of adapt, or do without.

  • Digital Native

    A digital native is someone born into the current digital world. They didn't have to adapt, because they've been using technology since day one.

  • Multimodal society

    To be multimodal, means using different or multiple modes of doing things. So a multimodel society is a society with multiple ways of understanding things, Words/sounds/pictures all in one.

  • People Networks

    People networks are great ways to help your business grow, making, and keeping personal connections with people that may be able to help you down the road.

  • Meme

    -A meme is an idea, passed along, where the initial idea may evolve.
    -Also known as the photos that people put together to get across an idea, that than get passed around the internet, changing over time.

  • Wikis

    Wikis are simplified, user updated websites or blogs. Although a lot of information can be found on wikis, you can't always believe them because they're user updated. In other words, anyone can update, whether the information is accurate or not.

  • Viral Video

    A video that has made it's rounds on the internet, from people passing it along via email or social networks building it up to millions of views over a short period of time, "spreading like a virus".

  • Social Networking

    Refers to the social groups formed on the internet, via social networking sites. Makes it possible to converse with a large group of people, instead of just one individual at a time.

  • Networked Life

    -The feeling, or need to be constantly connected, via social networks.

  • Blogging

    Writing a regularly updated, online diary, also know as a blog. Can be individual, or a group effort. May not just be words, but can also be photos/videos or other forms of media.

  • Academic Integrity

    To follow rules, or ethics within an academic setting. Not cheating or plagiarizing. To be honest when submitting work, and keeping that honesty throughout your education.

  • Ethics

    What is right,based off of an individual or group's morals.

  • Independant Learning

    To learn independently, either online, or in a small group under the supervision of an instructor. Requires more discipline than traditional learning.

  • Disinformation

    False information intentionally distributed to the masses.

  • Moral/Social Literacy

    To be morally literate. Understanding the difference between right, and wrong, and doing so.
    Socially literacy is to understand the act of being social, and doing so in a respectful matter.

  • Privacy

    Privacy is not having to deal with unwanted interruptions. Also refers to keeping private information that way.

  • Collaborative Media

    Media (art,music,news, etc.) that involves multiple participants input/work. Could also include sites such as wiki's that multiple people contribute to the story.

  • Digital Rights and Responsibilties

    The rights(privileges) and responsibilities(what is to be expected) given to every digital technology user. Rights include the freedom to use the internet as you wish, where the responsibility would be to use it as a responsible digital citizen.

  • Plagiarism

    Using someone's original idea, and attempting to pass it off as your own. Essentially, stealing someone's hard work/heart and soul.

  • Copyright

    Copyright is a right given to the creator of something, so that they have exclusive publication of that product. It can be images, music, words, and other means of expression.

  • Critical Thinking

    Critical thinking, is the process of looking at a question, or situation from all aspects, and make an educated decision based of your observations.

  • Digital Security

    Digital Security refers to the protection of one's digital identity. It can include virus protection, and other monitoring software so others don't get personal information.

  • Digital Identity

    Digital Identity refers to a collection of information about one's self, or a business online. Although a person may have both a physical and a digital identity, it is possible for a business to only have a digital identity/ no physical store front.

  • Digital Literacy

    Digital Literacy is the ability to use digital resources fluently, whether to find information or present information of your own.

    Your Digital Citizenship is the "know how " to use technology in a responsible way.
