Boston Marathon Bombing
Intro
On Monday, two bombs tore through a crowd of Boston Marathon spectators near the finish line, killing three, injuring more than 170, and sending the nation reeling from the largest coordinated attack on U.S. soil since September 11, 2001.
The accused attackers in the Boston Marathon bombings have roots in Chechnya, a Russian territory that has been in almost constant conflict with Russia for decades. The surviving bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, had U.S. citizenship and his dead brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, had a green card after their parents came here seeking political asylum. Lawmakers were also concerned about how exhaustively federal authorities investigated Tamerlan Tsarnaev after he traveled to Russia for six months in 2012.
The good
Just hours after the FBI released the first photos of suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing, a new photo of Suspect 2 emerged.
