    • Bullying at work places the victim’s health, safety and welfare at risk as well as hampering productivity by creating dysfunction within workplaces. In spite of this bullying is widespread at work. A survey by the UK public sector union, UNISON revealed that 66% of the respondents had experienced or witnessed bullying. 34% of those bullied reported that it had gone on for more than three years. In over 80% of cases, the bully was a manager. In almost all cases senior management knew what was going on but did nothing about it. Recent Australian data indicates that more than 70% of people will be subject to bullying at some time in their working lives.

    This brochure provides information for those being bullied. It describes workplace bullying, outlines employer and employee responsibilities, and provides information on what to do and who can help when bullying occurs.

    Synopsis of bullying in the workplace and what you can do about it - i.e how you can go about reporting, then getting mediation etc.

    Work.
    First, you need to look at your own internal grievance procedures - whichever company you are in. workcover only looks at this from an OH&S perspective i.e. is there a risk to health and safety? WorkdCover cannot take disciplinary actin. It can only determine risk and can provide assistance to employer. Can determine fines.
    Individual - if they have suffered they are entitled to register a compensation claim
    Talk to HR area - what does our organisation agree on what should be done?
