Disparities in gifted education
This is the winter newsletter from Northwestern's Center for Talent Development. If you click on Topics in Gifted Education it will lead you to information including research, different programs, learning disabilities, etc. You can also access older editions of this newsletter. It is a rich resource.
This web-site has links to challenges and projects for gifted elementary school children. Many of the projects could work out for other students, while allowing the advanced student ot go ahead. There are also many math teasers that are appropriate for younger children who need to be challenged.
Access to a study about the challenges of identifying learning disabilities in English Language Learners
This is a great resource for problems for an elementary classroom. Answers are well thought out and interesting. Hints are given. I would not give them to the children in the beginning.
A geometry lesson accessible by all students who can use a digital camera. The pictures are sophisticated but could easily be adapted for different ages and abilities.
Interesting ideas about multi-cultural math education. The issue of helping children from another culture feel comfortable enough to be successful is addressed with many ideas on how to achieve this.
An excellent article that helps the general classroom teacher apply techniques that will help all of her students. Sample problems with alternate questions are given. These are whole class activities with accomodations.
