Resource Evaluation
This section contains resources that will help you understand how to evaluate resource appropriateness and credibility. It includes two useful tools that provide criteria for evaluating online resources- the CRAAP criteria and WebCheck. Most of these criterion can also be used to evaluate print resources. I've also included two online resources on Joseph Kennedy which you can use to evaluate for worthiness.
Apply the CRAAP test to any resource you are considering using for a research project, or if you simply want your views or opinions taken seriously.
This is a fantastic tool for website evaluation. It was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and created by The Center for Digital Literacy at Syracuse University. You must register. "WebCheck for Facilitators" allows teachers to create evaluation instruments for as many classes as you want, and assess the results for each class. Students or teachers can use "WebCheck Instruments" to evaluate any online resource they are considering for a subject unit or research project respectively. It also include lesson plans.
