Arguably, the most well-respected online research and writing guide. Check the section on "General Writing," which contains a subsection on "Academic Writing." The "Research and Citation" section will answer all your bibliographic questions (how to create citations and a bibliography).
He speaks a bit quicky, but an excellent introduction to Evernote's features. Recommended for teachers and students who want to understand the basic lay of Evernote land.

Very good collection of content which addresses the challenge of choosing and narrowing down a research topic. Make sure to view the videos. They're geared towards college students, but apply generally. If you don't understand how to use Boolean operators to search effectively for content, there are several good tutorials in Diigo- just plug in the search term "boolean."
Very good, well-organized guide that includes the "Research Process Cycle" graphic, as well as a clear chart that lays out the differences between different types of research assignments.

This is one of the Beacon Center for Learning's many web lessons. It's designed for 8th grade, but may should help 9th graders too. The Beacon Center has other lessons like these, which you can find in Diigo (i.e.- Information Elimination: A Lesson on Narrowing the Topic for Expository Writing."

This is a very well-organized, comprehensive guide that covers all the boolean searching strategies. It also points out that the boolean operator "and" is implied in many databases, including Google. For those of you in your junior and senior years, this is a great resource for you to have in your proverbial "backpocket." It covers database searching, and some of the more advanced search strategies you'll need to understand in college.
