I really like this idea of mashing up a system which is usually provided by large scale institutional systems like PebblePad. It has a slight EduPunk feel about it.
You could argue that using a system like this encourages digital engagement more than a purpose-bought system might.#
You might also argue that it strengthens Google's grip on the web tools market.
I'm planning a blog post on ePorfolio Amplifier about Adobe Acrobat ePortfolios. Without access to the software I'm hoping this collection of videos will give me an accurate picture of what it can and can't do.
This is a pretty slick piece of marketing for Evernote that highlights some of the uses the app has in an educational context. It's part VLE, part ePortfolio, part blog etc.
Although the students all have shiny looking Macs, that's a bit of a red-herring. It's the fact that Evernote can run on multiple platforms (inc mobile) and over the web that makes it such a great tool.
I also REALLY want to be able to make videos as slick as these.

A great post from Martin Weller of the OU. ePortfolios overcomplicated and stifle the original aims of why they were seen as a good idea in the first place.
Why not blog? It's more personal, sustainable and social.
