"We’re all looking for ways to improve how we market our business through the many social media channels available.

Paying for advertising through the social media channels can help but it’s very costly.

There are many tools and apps that can help with your marketing and, although most are paid, it’s a very competitive area so pricing is often quite good.

In this article we’ve taken a look at 8 social media marketing tools that can help accelerate your business, and grow your following and your revenue."

"It's more important than ever to know how to use social media. Not only does it connect you with others but it can also benefit your business.

How? It allows you to understand and engage your customer better ... which is always a good thing. If you need a little help getting started, here are the ten social media commandments of content marketing."

"As social media plays a bigger part in business marketing, many now either outsource their account management to external marketing agencies or employ a person specifically for looking after their presence on the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc.

Basic social media management packages that agencies offer usually mean that they will research latest news and information available online and populate your social media channels with this content. They will also work on building your target audience based on the information you have shared with them. Though this is effective, it is not as good as combining it with news and updates on your actual business which helps to build a stronger relationship with audiences on social media. If you outsource your social media management, then you should think about being ‘Social’ in your daily activities and look to send them content such as the following to help them with building your brand awareness:"

"SnapChat, the "sexting app," has reached the point in an app's life where it is too popular for you not to know about. The photo-sharing app—yes, first things first, this is another picture taking cellphone thing—saw four times more photos on Thanksgiving than Instagram, which had its biggest day ever that day with over 10 million photos. It's also number-three in the free downloads section of the Apple app store and debuted on Android earlier this week. SnapChat, to be sure, has arrived. But maybe you missed it because the demographic skews younger? In that case, we're here to help with a handy guide for noobs (and boobs)."

"Some people don’t believe in climate change. Other people don’t believe that Google+ is changing how the internet works. This article is for people in the second group.

    Why Google+?

Put simply, Google wants to customize your search results based on what your friends like. People tend to like what their friends like, so this makes sense. Google is in the relevance business, and social relationships are relevant."

"Content marketing is growing, which is great news for customers wanting new information and for businesses wanting to provide value to their customers. But, as more and more content becomes available to readers, it becomes necessary to make sure your content actually gets noticed."

"As a founding partner of Year One Labs (an early stage accelerator), which operated actively in 2010-2011, I participated in 5 very early stage investments. But that wasn’t angel investing (although it had some similarities). Nine months ago I made my first independent angel investment. I’ve made 7 in total. They include: anonymous company (can’t tell you yet),"

"Social entrepreneurs -- those who try to tackle major social problems such as poverty and disease while generating revenues -- are often well-meaning people. But in their desire to make a difference to society, they sometimes fail to subject their ideas to rigorous tests. Ian MacMillan, a professor of management at Wharton, and James Thompson, who leads the Wharton Social Enterprise Program, have just published an ebook titled, The Social Entrepreneur's Playbook, to help entrepreneurs do just that"

"Does it drive you nuts that some idiot with a terrible product seems to be constantly making sales, when you know your product is better?

What’s the difference between you and that “idiot”?

Why Many “Idiots” Are So Successful

Idiots Successful entrepreneurs truly believe in their products/services, and aren’t afraid to show it.

When I was young, my dad told me, “Erica, no one wants to hear about your success.” What he meant was, “Don’t brag about all your stuff.” (For many of his cohorts, “stuff” equaled success; he’s an attorney.) Unfortunately, I took his comment literally. I almost never talked about my business."

"Recently, Kinnard Hockenhull got a call from his bank saying that they’d decided to shut down his account. For Hockenhull, this was potentially fatal news to his business. He’d been working on getting a venture-funded Bitcoin exchange off the ground, and without a U.S. bank account, he’d have no way to pay out customers in dollars.

The bank, Comerica, gave “no reason” for the closure, Hockenhull said in an email interview. “When I asked if anything was wrong, they insisted nothing was wrong.” The way he sees it, even though his company, BitBox, was in a legitimate line of business, Comerica — like other U.S. banks — seems to have developed cold feet about doing business with Bitcoin businesses lately, for fear that they will run afoul of U.S. financial regulators. Comerica declined to comment for this story."

"Far from slowing, the market for fake Twitter followers seems to be taking off.

The fake Twitter follower phenomenon made headlines last summer after Mitt Romney’s Twitter following jumped by 100,000 in a matter of days. That news inspired a number of social media management companies like StatusPeople and SocialBakers to develop Web tools that try to determine what percent of a person’s Twitter followings are fake."

"A new generation of malicious software or malware is
trawling the internet and seeking out websites
that have vulnerabilities; this malware then infects
these websites and uses them as hosts to infect their
    unsuspecting visitors."

"Social Media Campaign Ideas to Build Fans & Increase Engagement
Email Marketing - $10/mth. Easy to Use, 98% Delivery Rate. Send Unlimited Emails to your List!

Many social media programs are goaled on the amount of friends or followers as well as the engagement levels of those friends and followers. Contests, give-a-ways and polls are all great ways to build your followings and increase your engagement. Here is a list of some of the great ideas I have seen work for small businesses:

Offer a gift card to your store to a randomly picked Facebook Fan every month. This builds your fan base and keeps them coming back every month.

Give a free service to the first 5 people who answer a question about your company on Twitter correctly. This gets people tweeting to you while they learn more about your company."

"Benjamin Franklin is regarded as one of the wisest and most practical men in history. The following list describes the most important standards he ever subscribed to. In his autobiography, Franklin dedicated fifteen pages to this short list of principles – the most he had ever dedicated to one subject. He felt that he owed all of his success and happiness to this plan and concluded that he hoped “therefore, that some of my descendants may follow the example and reap the benefit.” Although Franklin was revered as wise, he did not always come across this way. So if you are wondering if you are feeling up to the task, consider this: Benjamin Franklin had only two years of schooling; and now, 150 years after his death, the world’s greatest universities are still showering him with honors! If a man with TWO years of education could make this work, we would be considered foolish not to try it."

"Lots of entrepreneurs struggle with pricing. How much to charge? It’s clear that the right price can make all the difference – too low and you miss out on profit; too high and you miss out on sales.

    Don’t ask, can’t tell

Asking people what they’d pay for and how much rarely works. For one thing people will tell you what they WANT to pay—which is obviously much less than what your product or service is actually WORTH. Second, what people say and what people do are very different things."
