Diigo is a social bookmarking site. You can upgrade to an educator account for free, allowing you to set up student accounts. The advantage to this is that students will see sticky notes and highlighting you've added to the bookmarks on your lists.
Katy ISD pays for a campus subscription, so we log in to Katyblogs instead of EDUblogs. Teachers can have a blog and make students contributors to their blog, so that there is inaction. Alternatively, teachers can open their blog site to the world and let anyone comment on the posts.

Katy ISD subscribes to PBworks. We can set up wiki sites and add student users, with or without email accounts. Each wiki can store up to 40 gigs of information. Security setting options allow administrators of wikis to completely customize the security of each page of the wikis.
Prezi is the zooming presentation editor. Think of PowerPoint, only much more. You create the presentation, then draw a path to sequence everything, with the option to zoom in and out, or abandon the path altogether when you present it. Katy ISD teachers and secondary students can set up EDU Enjoy accounts. You must have email to use it.
Your district or school needs to apply to this site. Then someone manages accounts. Teachers and students have webpages, can participate in worldwide projects, or lock in down so that only the home school is visible.

Vuvox requires an email in order to set up an account. Students 6th-12th and staff can use it in Katy ISD. It lets you create collages with links, music, pictures, videos, and text. Similar to Glogster, but instead of a poster, you create a horizontal banner, meant to be viewed like a timeline.
You must have an email account in order to register for an account here. If you wish to invite someone to collaborate on a file here, they must also have an email account. There is, however, no age requirement for use.
No account is necessary. Add random words or copy/paste text to produce a word cloud.
You must be over 13 years old to create an account at this site. Elementary teachers can create short videos by simply choosing 1-2 characters and setting and keying in dialogue.
