Egon Zehnder Globalizes with Intranet 2.0
Globalization is changing the executive search business, and Egon Zehnder International uses enterprise social software from Socialtext to lead the way.
n numerous studies, Jim Collins, one of today's best-known thought leaders on management, has shown that even under the most difficult conditions, it is less the operating environment that shapes the fate of a company and more the people that chart its course. Talking with THE FOCUS , Collins explains how that impacts on an organization's resilience.
Convergence - An evident trend requires ambitious leadership profiles (9th International Executive Panel)
The topic of convergence features high on the agenda of scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs, managers and consumers alike. Business models are opening up, industries merging and companies committing to closer collaboration; social systems that once seemed incompatible are moving towards each other as cultural boundaries become blurred in a globalized world.
Convergence is making itself felt across a whole spectrum of industries - from the automobile sector, where the convergence keyword is e-mobility, to personalized medicine and, last but not least, the area that has so far been at the forefront of convergence processes, IT and telecoms. As a hub technology, digital hard- and software is becoming all-pervading in traditional branches of industry such as energy, mechanical engineering and medical technology. In October 2010, Egon Zehnder International surveyed 515 top managers from across the globe, asking how they experience convergence.
This was the ninth time that Egon Zehnder International had staged an online survey to question top leaders about current issues in corporate management. With the International Executive Panel, Egon Zehnder International has created an instrument that provides us with insights into the spectrum of opinions held by leading corporate decision-makers around the world. The high-caliber panel includes representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as major corporate groups.

Although many organizations already existed for women in different areas of technology and as well to encourage girls to pursue careers in such fields, there was no commons area that:
* brought all interested individuals and organizations together;
* supported peer-to-peer learning exchange;
* built connections and established relationships across diverse communities and disciplines to support women technologists; and
* specifically attended to retaining women in technology fields through community.
Rather than creating yet another niche women-in-tech organization, we decided to work with and promote existing activists and organizations, inviting them all to meet at an interactive event called an unConference. (see full description of unConferences in Appendix A)
The first She's Geeky unConference was held in October 2007, at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
