This reader lets you download qr codes.
OH, Mr. Robbo - I am already just crazy about him! Here he talks about how he teaches the skelton with QR Codes.!
This is information on QR codes for Marketing but in this there is potential for schools - particularly ubiquitous "hardlinks" between educational experiences like museums.
This video shows how to use itouch and google docs for a classroom. (I prefer polleverywhere for this.)
This video demonstrates how to do this.
Lots of resources from Tony Vincent. This page focuses on the many things you can do with an itouch in the classroom.
Mike Fisher's Livebinder on Ipads in schools. If you're using iPads, this is an excellent resource.
This is a video I made in just 2 minutes on my iPad. I didn't have to go to educreations' website first but did everything on my iPad. I cannot watch the web version, however as it is flash based. You can create public or private classes and easily share the videos. Very cool implementation of simple screencasting. This would be great for ll schools with 1:1 iPads. Need to get if you can view class content from their app without going to web. Very easy. Wow.
So, you want your iPhone home button to behave like it did when you got it. This very simple tip is spreading like wildfire through the iPhone networks and just involves a simple recalibration with the power off switch. Try it if you are having trougble or if you have had your iPhone or iPod touch for a while. Very cool.
A Wyoming school district is mandating one ipad per child.
A detailed discussion from the journal about launching a 1:1 ipad program beginning with leadership and cost and moving through other issues. I do wish this article had a few more links but it is a great read for those who are discussing this (like we are at my school.)
What a blast! Show your friends a YouTube video on your iPhone using moment catcher. When you are done, play back their reaction. They don't know it but as you are playing the video, it is filming! This would be great to use with one of those jump out and scare you fright videos on YouTube. What fun.
I helped test this app and liked the capability it had to put the presentation on the screen of my students on the iPads. Everyone could see. It is worth testing if you are in a 1:1 iPad situation. Great tool.
" Evi is a new iPhone (iTunes link) and Android app in Beta (link) which might just give Apple’s Siri a run for her money" Ftom True Knowledge, this app is said to be much better for those outside the US where Siri really doesn't have the answers, literally. Have the virtual assistant app wars begun?
There is a human cost when manufacturing is outsourced to places that do not respect human rights. This article is making the rounds in light of Apple's stellar financial performance but it can be related to other companies too. Overseas reall means "no one sees" and thus no one cares. We should care about human beings being treated in a humane way no matter where they live.
Using ipads to teach vocabulary. In this mainstream media article, students are using Toontastic to create stories and learn new vocabulary. My students enjoy Puppetpals, another great one to use.
Wired just did an article on deploying iPads using the Apple Configurator tool. This is a powerful tool for schools to use.
Socrative is an app that turns any device into part of a student response system. Not sure why I haven't written about before as it has won all kinds of awards. If you have BYOD or iPad or any type of 1:1 technology, Socrative is a must use so you don't have to buy a separate response system.
If you want to see some sample Socrative quizzes and lessons, teachers are starting to upload their Socrative resources to the TES website that I frequent so often. Here are some nice quizzes and lessons, particularly on science: space, electrolysis, animal and plant cells.
40 ipad apps for language learners that teach language and culture. My top complaint continues to be the lack of feedback to parents and teachers, however, if you're implementing iPad 1:1, this is a must review list.
A pdf with 20 ipad apps for educators - this may be something you could email to your teachers if they've just gotten ipads to teach them how to open and read a pdf on their ipad. This is really just a powerpoint converted to PDF but it does include links and screenshots.
