Every once in a while, look around at work a make two lists.The first list should be things that obviously need to be done, but no one is doing them.The second list should be things that other people are doing that they obviously hate doing.Choose one thing from each list and ask if you can do them.

Unfortunately, in a significant number of families, parents lack the personal experiences in career and college preparation themselves to be able to assist their children in goal setting and planning.
What better way "to personalize learning and level the playing field for students who might not otherwise have access to resources for college planning" than to provide parents with the tools they need to do the job at home.
“Ask the boss if you can attend extra meetings,” Houser says. “Ask if there’s a project you can help out with. Ask the manager if there’s an opportunity to do a presentation, help with a PowerPoint, sit in on a sales pitch or join the noon-hour Toastmasters club nearby. Almost any internship or job is a platform for students to practice and gain the experiences and skills they need to develop.”
