    "new literacy skills"...but I also accept that literacy skills
    will be forever morphing into the "new" and will not ever be as static as they have been in the past.

• Many education professionals feel that a shift to a more learner-centered model focused on the development of individual potential instead of the imposition of a body of knowledge would lead to deeper and more sustained learning across the curriculum.

  • Specialization has become a must in the professional world. In every organization there are departments with hierarchy within each department, all interdependent on one another. Why wouldn't specialization begin in the early years of education. Profiles of strengths and weaknesses begin to emerge from the first days of formal education and it has always been clear that one's strengths are what shore up the weaknesses. Furthermore, when you combine strengths with interest (or even personal passions if one is lucky enough) a career emerges.

• Increasingly, technology skills are also critical to success in almost every arena, and those who are more facile with technology will advance while those without access or skills will not.

• Students are very familiar with the idea of “skinning” — customizing the look and feel of — their virtual experiences. They expect and experience personalized content in games and websites that is at odds with what they find in the classroom.

• That a quick surf through the top five hits will fail to astound with examples of her creativity, collaborative skills
• even worse, that no links about her will come up at all. I mean, what might "Your search did not match any documents" imply?
• Use your real name. It's a requisite step to be Googled well. Be prudent, of course, about divulging any personal information that puts you at risk, and guide students in how they can do the same.

• Rethinking what we teach must come before we can rethink how we teach.
• apply to students’ current and future lives and leverage the power of Web 2.0  and ubiquitous technologies
• types and systems of assessments schools need to develop to fully capture the  varied dimensions of 21st century learning as well as the independent role  students need to take
• schools should create a culture that supports and reinforces innovation for  student learning and leverages the creativity
